Wait, the 3DS has Monster Hunter?
I thought that doesn't come out until next year...
TriG? Japanese release..

Nice to see good sales, hopefully we'll start seeing both consoles getting great games. Hopefully Sony doesn't do with the PSVita what it did with the PSP.. Forget PSP marketing and concentrate on the PS3. Not good on the long run.

EDIT: Ninjah'd..

I don't think that comparing the launch of a handheld games console to the launch of a Smartphone is fair.

In the case of a handheld games console, they have a lifespan of around 5 years. In that time there will naturally be revisions, price cuts and an expanded library. People's general reaction: Let's wait a while until it's matured.
In the case of smartphones, they a life-span of 9-12 months until a "major" revision is released. Price cuts are unlikely until the next revision. People's general reaction: MUST BUY NOW!

Even so, I've seen the same thing on a tonne of other sites and it irritates me. Just venting my irritation :)

You expect people here to have vague sense of humour?

The iDevices are becoming part of the gaming industry, so I think it's fair to compare .
Yes but it isn't really a gaming device, it is a phone that can play games, which is a big difference.
But people prefer the iPhone to 3DS and Vita.

You can try and come up with different reasons why smartphones can't be classed in the gaming market but it's pretty clear more people are buying a smartphone for games rather than a handheld console.

I don't know why this surprises people.

The 3DS will always sell better than the PS Vita because the casual crowd outnumber the core gamers
That's why games like angry birds sold so well

With the 3DS you have kids, girls, moms, and grandmas buying it, while the PS Vita is only bought by core gamers

Exactly, it's the so-called casual gamer. They want something to kill a few minutes with and gaming isn't their central focus. People here really need to understand the gaming market is dominated by the casual market, hardcore gamers really are in the minority.

IOS and Android are going to dominate the handheld market, it's only a matter of time.

sorry but no is not fair

the devices sell but is not because of the games

Actually they sell because of the games. I am one those who bought an iPod Touch 4G so I can do some other stuff other than listening to music. The iDevices get exclusive games example: Dead Space, Grand Theft Auto, Sonic etc... Aren't those games also on consoles/handhelds?

And isn't that part of the gaming industry? It is a phone that also gets exclusive games just like any console and handheld.

stereotypical brainwash and/or trolling comment
Just ... just stop... *facepalm*

I didn't think ISO/Android is going to dominate the handheld market anytime soon specially when they
are getting more phone features anyway.

Those games or either ported or "cut section of" console/handheld games which I rather just get on a real gaming device that
gives the full experience.
