Hardware Thinking of switching my DSi XL for a 3DS

Well here's the thing.. I'm thinking of switching my DSi XL for a brand new 3DS of course I'm gonna add a little amount of money, but I still want to play DS games and the bluriness when playing DS games on the 3DS is kinda putting me down and making me think twice.. What do you guys think?

Well... Let me simplify:

PROS

• Use of analog circle pad in DS games

CONS

• Blurry, and the native display looks awfully small

I'd prefer an analog stick.

and some games really benefit from it (Super Mario 64 DS for example)

To me it's not TOO bad. In fact some games sorta look better in it (personal opinion), I heard that Castlevania DoS looks better on the 3DS.

The blurriness won't really affect your gameplay overall.

Honestly, I think the 3DS is a let down. Why don't you just save it for the PS Vita (which I think will be available early next year).

The money I'm saving right now was supposed to be for the 3DS but I decided to wait for the PS Vita cuz it looks VERY promising.

The upcoming 3DS games are also promising which is why I'm thinking of getting one now. As for the Vita, I can get it later, so that's not a problem and no I'm not thinking of getting the Vita at launch seeing that I didn't get the 3DS at launch. Read what I typed, Eugene. I'm only adding a LITTLE amount of money for a brand new 3DS with the exchange of my DSi XL

If you play DS games on flashcarts (hoho), I'd suggest having a regular DS (not DSi) close to you - maybe buy one cheap or lend from someone.

Or else, I'd say you go for it. The 3DS not only plays DS games pretty decently (apart from the slight blur) but also plays 3DS software which are slowly building up now.

Sorry. I forgot that the PS Vita will cost 250 while the 3DS costs 170 right now.

The DS is pretty much for just in case the firmware update requires you to boot on an older system.

I'd say wait a little bit until more games for the 3DS comes out, the blurriness isn't as bad as people say. It's hardly noticeable unless you have something with you to compare.

If you don't want it to be blurry, you just hold down start and select when you boot the game. Why does nobody say that?

What's the point of waiting? If you wait, you'll just miss Four Swords.
And nobody says that because it makes the screen smaller than a normal DS.

Dear friend ! I am using a DSi XL and a 3DS and I can ensure you that the gaming experience for non-3D games is much better on the DSi XL.
On the 3DS the color is very bright and flat. On a DSi XL the colors are warm, shiny, intensive.
If the 3DS would offer adjustment of brightness/contrast/saturation, we could change that, but it is not.
Also the top screen quality is different on 3DS since the size is bigger.
And not to forget the bigger screen experience. I gamed for weeks on the 3DS but I stopped and switched to a DSi XL.
3DS now just for 3D games which are adjusted perfectly.

There might be others giving fun but I don´t think you have less fun with DS games.

Did you ever think it looks better for the simple reason that one screen was made to ONLY play DS games the other was made with both the 3DS and DS games in mind, and I have no clue what DS games you play but play DS games on the 3DS is equal or better than playing on a normal DS. That cirle pad 3DS has saved me in so many online matches of MPH where my DS's D-Pad fucked me up.

If your ONLY going to play DS games on the 3DS or plan to mainly play DS games dont get it. If you actually want to play 3DS games buy one. That simple.

The so called blurryness is just the way that 3DS has to remove some of the pixelations, I don't mind the color and it actually makes some games look nicer to me, more smoother n all that. =O
Also, playing DS games on a 3DS is secondary, same as playing game boy games on a gba (to those who remember it, some games turned really ugly with the stretched screen option)...
