No, you aren't "losing" that thing up top -- Walmart will indeed be bringing those limited edition blue Wiis to the US of A starting this Thursday, and better still, it'll be hawking 'em for just $99.96 apiece. If you'll recall, the powder blue variants of Nintendo's newest home console were previously reserved for other sections of the globe, but a new spot that just aired on CBS' broadcast of the Titans vs. Falcons has confirmed that it'll be on sale within a matter of days for those lucky enough to snag one. They'll be offered up starting at 10:00PM on November 24th (that's Thanksgiving day, you know) and should be completely sold out by 10:00:01PM on the same day. That tally will net you a console, a matching Wii Remote Plus and a Nunchuk. Good luck -- pack a helmet.

P.S. - Black Thursday is the new Black Friday.

That looks kinda cool but I wouldn't count on actually finding one to buy.

While the lower price is always a nice thing, the lack of backwards compatibility is a deal breaker for me. You can easily find a pre-owned Wii at the same price, if not cheaper, so why buy "less for more"?

This is a typical bundle for the casual, non-retro gamer who has no interest in Gamecube games whatsoever.

I really wish Nintendo released the wii in all the colors promised at e3
Manufacturing issues aside, a black wii at release would have at least stayed hooked up to my tv instead of stashed in the closet

Just sayin'

Except, you know, different DVD drive that won't let you play backups and no GC support. So...you're wrong.

Anyways, couldn't care any less. I can get a used Wii for $100 any time I want, but really I don't need to because I have one. In fact, why should anyone care? Everybody has a Wii nowadays.

More accurately, it's meant for new gamers who haven't ever heard of a Gamecube.

I would only get one for research purposes...
I would like to know exactly what on this Wii prevents GC loading, whether it uses a special System Menu, and whether the places for the controller ports are there (just with no ports soldered onto them).

A different drive that doesn't read GC games, and there are no GC controller ports. It's all pretty straightforward. Other than that, it is just a cheaper Wii with the same software.
