With v4RC4 i can't play DKCR (ntsc) (wbfs and fst) and Go Vacation (ntsc) (wbfs and fst) with my (pal) NAND. i didnt tested if it works with a (ntsc) NAND.
Is there a region check in cDI?

The DI module will lie about the region if an out of region game is loaded. If for example a PAL nand is loaded the module will always say that a PAL game is loaded no matter what region game loads.
The kernel also contains the same sm region free hack used in Priiloader. These 2 hacks together will play in most cases out of region games without a problem.

However, when you set the language in the wii settings for example to german and load a game and the game doesn't have the german language there's a big change the game loads into a black screen. Setting the language to english when loading a ntsc-u game on a PAL nand for example will solve the issue in most cases.

Then there are also games that won't load on an out of region nand. For example, there's no way to load The Amazing Race NTSC-u on a PAL Wii. Even not on real nand with your favorite backup loader. Switch to a NTSC nand in ONEEK and the game loads fine. The games that have this issue are generally games that were released for only one single region.

The first problem can be solved in different ways, while the second problem can only be fixed by a work around. I will try to create a work around fix that fixes both, but this will be after the public release.

Ohw and I don't know if anyone is interested, but the public release will be on 11-11-2011

thanks for your description overjoy.

i did some test last night with v4RC4 (multi-nand-support) and my pal NAND

DKCR (ntsc) FST - works with german language, because game is multi language
DKCR (ntsc) WBFS - don't work, black screen at the beginning
Go Vacation (ntsc) FST - works, if i change the language to english instead of german
Go Vacation (ntsc) WBFS - don't work, my second nand was loaded instead the game
Xenoblade Chronicles (pal) splittet WBFS - works

i have some trouble to change my nands.
my 1st nand is a dump of my real nand.
my second nand was a modmii created virgin ntsc-u nand
if i will change from usb:\nands\nandpal to usb:\nands\nandntsc it freezed

before i used the modmii ntsc-u nand, i had 2 copies of my real nand in the folder with the foldername usb:\nands\nand1 and usb:\nands\nand2 and it works very well

i don't know if the foldernames makes trouble or modmii nands?!?

EDIT: a second test confirm that there is no problem of the name of the nandfolder, i think its a problem of the modmii nand(s). @post 305 xflak had the same problem.
i can switch without problems between my 2 real nand dumps. if i switch to my third (modmii) nand it freezed and if i resart the wii the modmii nand will be loaded without a problem.

is it on your to-do-list to make a feature so we can dump wii games to .wbfs?

regards

I had some trouble getting this to switch nands (using 2 ModMii constructed emunands). The nand would always change, but half the time the wii would not reset and I had to do a hard power down. But when I powered it back up it launched right into the nand I switched to (I have bootmii @ boot2 so it didn't load the real nand first). And during the first boot of ModMii nands it didn't work, after 10 minutes of inactivity I powered down and powered back up and it worked. I never had this problem with the official s\uneek... but I got it working in the end so I don't consider it to be a huge deal.

will ONEEK work with a wbfs formatted drive?

or does it have to be fat32 (or exfat) with the wbfs folder in the root of the drive?

could a shortcut be placed to forward to a wbfs drive?

it has to be a fat32 formatted drive with a 32kb cluster size. This is a neek limitation that might change in the future.

With modmii nands, for my configuration, the only way to make them working is to build a sneek (no +DI or +cDI) on non hc SD, boot them, configure and then copy to USB HDD for usage with oneek.

This works always perfectly.

Hmmm.. This means we'll have to check the difference between a nand we setup using SNEEK and a nand we setup with ONEEK

@SanGor:
You're right about the name.. ONEEK doesn't make much sense.. I mean not the way SNEEK and UNEEK do. I'm not great in thinking of names. That's also why my wife named our kids

Of course it's oke with me to add this to the original project, but it's upto Crediar to deside if he wants that

also, does the usb drive have to occupy slot 1 usb (the one closest to the edge) or can i put the uneek/oneek drive on the other port?

reason i ask, is that I don't want to keep swapping my drives in and out. currently using a 500gb samsung portable formatted to wbfs with around 170 odd games. I have used sneak so far and only managed to get it to work with my bootmii backup hand (modmii hand would not get pass the setup screens).

So can I keep my wbfs in its usual slot and have another usb drive formatted to fat32 (32k clusters) on the other usb?

I mainly use sneak for those ubisoft games... but would definitely move over everything if it allowed wbfs format usb disks to be read. I wouldn't even mind if there was no usb loader.

first d2x, now neek2O, all these Wii molecules just keep popping up, lol

@75mak, just so you're aware, you're asking for a lot. If the devs decide to tackle your requests it's not gonna happen overnight. Just don't get your hopes up. Personally I think wbfs partition support is pointless and a waste of the dev's time. WBFS file support on fat32 is better anyways.

no, i understand. I probably will have to change my drive to fat32 soon anyway. It'll probably take over 24 hours to transfer the files. BUt I think its worth it.

Will need to remember 32kb file clusters though. Will that have any adverse affect when using the drive for windows stuff? not that I plan to, but just wondering.

Also, just like to say thanks to the guys behind ONEEK or NEEK20 or whatever you want to call it. It's one of the best apps/mods Ive seen for the wii and probably one of the most useful.

kool , neek2O seems fitting and 'rolls' nice of the tongue.

i'm not sure why more people don't just dump their own nand.
i mean , modmii nand is good,
but wouldn,t there be less limitations and faster (first-time) loading come from just using one of the fsdumper's ?

@75mak,
check out ModMii, run the usb-loader setup guide, it will help u format your drive as fat32 (w 32kb clusters). The only adverse effect is u can't save single files greater than 4 gigs to it. That depending on how u use the drive it could get fragmented, but u can just defrag it on windows or w/e every so often if it becomes an issue (which it never has for me personally).

I'm excited to see overjoy and obcd team up with crediar on the neek project. Thanks to all you guys!

@markehmus,
the ModMii built nands are only composed of the minimal files\requirements. So it's smaller than most nand dumps, which can make it faster than larger nands. Not to mention ModMii offers a lot of bells and whistles, like installing NMM, DML, switch2uneek, priiloader, homebrew filter, system menu themes, wii channels etc. Anyways, I'm not saying the ModMii nands are better, dumped nands can be set up just as nicely, but ModMii is just more convenient for a lot of ppl.

So does switch2uneek not work at all or just not with multiple emulated nands i.e. will it work with my one emulated nand?

I assume switch2real in the emulated nand works.

switch2uneek renames the nand folders from a subfolder to the root of usb before it launches uneek. It renames them back if you intend to switch to another nand. The new neek2O is capable of using the nand directly from it's subfolder. This is less dangerous and a little faster. Just imagine what happens if you have a power failure during the renaming process. neek2O has a buildin feature to switch between nand's on the fly, even without the need to leave the neek2O environment.

We still have one hurdle to take, and that's an easy way to switch from real nand to neek2O environment. Thanks to Xflak and GiantPune, this hurdle suddenly isn't untakable anymore. So this reminds me to thank them both for the fabalous work they did yesterday when I was dreaming of a perfect modded wii that plays channels, homebrew and game backups on a neek2O emulated nand. (You can't dream of beautifull girls every time.)

The problem that exists now is that people with bootmii as boot2 have a wii that boots directly into uneek. People that have bootmii as ios need to launch that ios to start the neek environment, and loose the bootmii option on their nand. Soon, (hopefully already when things get released) this will all be past time.
So, long story short, don't trouble yourself with a switch2neek setup now. You probably won't need it.

Hmm, replacing the sneek and bootmii folders on the SD and the sneek folder on my USB is just giving me a flashing blue light on the disc drive and nothing is booting. Clearly I'm doing something wrong.

I guess I'll keep using uneek+di and wait for an easy switching app before going over to neek2o.

EDIT: Yep, I'm an idiot. I guess I need to copy everything back into the nand1 folder before trying this.

Eventhough the New 3DS XL is more powerful, I still feel like the DS Lite was a more polished system. It's a real shame that it never got an XL variant keeping the GBA slot. You'd have to go on AliExpress and buy an ML shell to give a DS phat the unofficial "DS Lite" treatment, and that's the best we'll ever get I'm afraid.

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.
