There is definitely a bug in 1.2.1 firmware. There is a small but noticable chance that the MigFlash throws an error when inserting the cart or switching games. Waiting for 1.2.2.
The bug is fixed. No errors for me on 1.2.2 and no ban while playing online.

So thats it. Switch 1 backups* work flawlessly on the MigFlash now.

So Switch 2 and latest firmware, does it work for SW1 backups.

Also what's the news on bricks, is it built into the current firmware so if you insert the mig, it flags and bricks there and then.

Or is it if your online and connect to nintendo servers while pirating.

Or is it the next firmware update that then bricks your console.

Just wondering about getting one, obviously console would remain offline and no nintendo account linked.

As personally I don't think it'd be too long before we see SW2 games being dumped and a matter of time before mig patches to support them, because its very unlikely nintendo have made too many changes in the consoles actual os.

@Retrojunkies MIG Switch with the latest 1.2.2 firmware should work properly on Switch 2 with the latest 20.1.5 firmware. As for whether it's now safe to use your own backups for playing Switch 1 games on Switch 2 via MIG Switch, remains to be seen. There have been a lot of bans lately so I can't say for sure. Latest MIG Switch firmware should've fixed the issues it was having with Switch 2. I haven't heard anything about bricks, only the online services being restricted on Switch 2 consoles and that's pretty much it.

If you plan on getting one for piracy, you might flag your console for ban next time you go online with it. There have been a few reports that 1.2.2 works properly on Switch 2 right now, but it's too early to tell whether a ban will occur or not. Cheers to those willing to test and maybe get their consoles banned in the process.

There's probably a bounty which hackers/devs find loopholes and then get paid for reporting it. Sony does that after all.

People should be "okay" with the potential ban if they're using that unauthorized cartridge by Nintendo.

can someone explain why you care going online if you hack your switch2? you get banned, who cares? or does banning console mean it destroys your switch2 somehow';?

Can't install updates. Can't download games. Can't buy games. Essentially, the set of games you have on your switch at the time of ban is it. Any game released that requires a higher fw won't even work physically

Basically, yes. All you can play after a ban is Switch 1 games and physical Switch 2 games. You are locked out of the eShop and cannot download Game Key Card games. I'd say being unable to access more than half of the library of new games is pretty substantial.

I mean, this gives devs an incentive to hack the console in order to find ways to install and run those digital Switch 2 games regardless, but for the time being a ban kinda hurts. I don't think those who played only their own dumps before MIG firmware 1.2 came out deserve such a punishment.

@SecureBoot above me: I think I read that there are still ways to update the system software of a banned Switch 2.

This video says that a banned Switch 2 can still receive firmware updates at 3:40.

With these newest FW updates on on Switch systems, getting banned just makes life difficult if its the only system you own. You cant update titles, no virtual game card stuff.. etc.
A ban is a big deal.. its not like the old days.

I stand corrected! Thanks for the info. Still hate to be bound to physical when so few games have physical releases. I probably won't ever use my MIG Switch just in case which sucks because I love the product from a convenience standpoint

Banned switch means more piracy. My switch 2 got banned. Got banned not because I used a migswitch or modded but because by mistake I bought a game account. Well does Nintendo think I would cry over this and just throw away my switch 2 ?

No

I did buy several switch2 games from the eshop which I still play and the ban and arrogance that nintendo uses gave me the incentive to order a migswitch and download a huge amount of pirated games. I always believed that if you cannot go thru the door you can use a window. There will always be a way around. Arrogance never wins!

Good luck playing Switch 2 games.

Am already playing switch 2 games. If you are referring to new ones…..time will tell.

Btw am not a fan of zelda nor bonanzi so…..

By now, until it get's hacked ( which, yes, it could be that it doesn't happen, but oh boy if it does happen, floodgates open ).
I would bet that it does happen, i could be wrong... but N has been acting so insecure by going after everything. It kinda tells me they are worried about a possible exploit. Like they maybe overlooked something. That.. or their arrogance just motivates more people to hack it.

I think it's simply a continuation of their way of doing things that started with the Switch 1 emulation.
