Currently i am backing up my eMMC as my previous backup eMMC somehow corrupted.
The issue is that progress is very slow, after 2hour is at 4%, SD is FAT32
I have tried changing the SD format to exFAT, but also the same slow progress, 2hour is at 4%.
The SD card is samsung evo plus sdxc uhs-1
Any method to improve this?

Which error are you getting exactly?
I get the "Unable to start software. Return to the HOME Menu and try again" and then I get the check for corrupted data thing. Actually, the Mario Wonder doesnt even show an icon on the menu, just a blank loading icon. I also remember getting a NCA error when installing.

I tried 2 backups from 2 different sources and only those games give me this so far. I don't fully understand how prod keys works, but I just drag and drop them on the SD card from a website.

Is there any working backup of Yuzu ?
I had to reinstall Windows for some reasons, and the 128Bit installer give me a 451 error code when trying to install PineappleEA.

I think asking and giving links to that software is prohibited on the term and rules of the site: https://gbatemp.net/help/terms/

Hello guys,

I'm a beginner in switch micro soldering. I usually repair simple things like card reader, screen, joycons etc... but i also do sometimes very simple soldering like changing P13 or M92. Actualy i'm afraid that my diagnostic is ultra simple : No image ? P13+USB No charging ? M92+USB something else ? F**c off. I need to improve.

Today i installed a modchip on a standard V1. Works but no displaying on tv. USB port looks good (with with my few knowledge : i check the pins, i checked diode measurement). After that i check P13USB and found a very high reading in diode mod on a capacitor near him. See pictures. I found 1.54 instead of 0.57.

As i told you i can do simple soldering stuff but i dont exactly understand the meanings. Anyone better to help me ?

Thanks for reading (i already made a post about this, if it's inapropriate i'll delete it)

I tried to update my Oled's atmosphere and hekate to prepare for a firmware update from the switch app itself, but it just turned off and didn't reboot. Now it doesn't turn on. If I take out the SD card, it turns on and show the pico fly "no sd" grey screen message.
I tried doing it through the PC, extracting the Atmosphere and Hekate new stuff on the SD cards root, still doesn't boot. (Deleted the "contents" folder and added the 18.1 FW update in the process, there's also a older hekate.bin that I deleted). Tried deleting the old atmosphere folder and put on a new and, after all that, the console still doesn't boot with the SD card.

Other info: it wasn't me who hacked the switch and I've never updated the FW and CFW before.

What should I do?

I just bought a Nintento Switch V1 with Atmosphere and the latest Hekate already installed. I went through the FAQ and read much scattered information on Google, but I still struggle to understand some things and I would like to have a clear idea of the workflow before using my modded Switch. I don't want to be banned or brick it...

not planning to use the console for anything fancy, just to play Switch games plus some GBA/DS games. can you please check my ideas / questions?
  • to play Switch games, I would just place the SD card into my computer, copy-paste the XCI rom into it, and then place the SD card back into the console. where will these games be displayed on the Switch?
  • to run mGBA/melonDS emulators I just copy-paste the NRO files (+NAND/BIOS files for the DS) into the SD card, correct?
  • let's say I downloaded Super Mario Bros Wonder XCI Rom. do I need Sys-patch to play the game? I don't really understand what Sys-patch is in general.
  • why on earth would someone: go online with a modded console? install Android (assuming you have a smartphone)? install tinfoil (assuming you have a PC)? update the Firmware?
  • is there a possibility to be banned by just doing the abovementioned use, without ever going online?
thank you!!!

What should I do?
Can you boot into OFW at all, without SD card inserted? I'm not sure but you should be able to boot into OFW if you press the Power button while holding down both volume buttons. If it works, you can start from scratch with either sysNAND or emuNAND CFW, depending on which one you'd like to use. That's what I'd do anyway, but note that I have no experience with hardmodded Switches.

Not really. First of all, if you SD card is FAT32, most of the XCI files won't fit onto it due to the FAT32 filesize limit. Instead you're supposed to install your games with one of the installers. I suggest using DBI as it always worked for me from the very first day. Here's a good video on how to use it. Note that the latest EN release is 658, while the latest RU only release is 678. Basically, once you properly install the drivers for the DBI on your PC and it gets recognized, you should be able to run the dbibackend.exe and connect your Switch to the PC via USB cable. It's should be pretty simple.

While some other users may prefer Tinfoil due to its free shops, I was never a fan of it since DBI did the job and I could easily find some truested sources for XCI and NSP files on the Internet that we aren't allowed to link to here due to anti-piracy reasons.

to run mGBA/melonDS emulators I just copy-paste the NRO files (+NAND/BIOS files for the DS) into the SD card, correct?
I'm yet to use emulators on my Switch, but if they are in NRO format, they should go into switch folder on the root of your SD cards as that's where all the apps go usually. As for the roms themselves, you'll have to check for yourself. There's probaby a guide or two, probably inside the app as well once you run it. Maybe you shoud check Retroarch as well?

let's say I downloaded Super Mario Bros Wonder XCI Rom. do I need Sys-patch to play the game? I don't really understand what Sys-patch is in general.
Yes. sys-patch does the same thing sigpatches do, allowing you to play game backups while bypassing any and all signature checks which would render those games unplayable otherwise. These days, I prefer using sys-patch instead of sigpatches as it's much easier to update and usually doesn't need to be updated on every firmware revision.

go online with a modded console?
Access homebrew apps, play in local multiplayer, use LAN play maybe? Download amiibo data, some people even use all-in-on Switch updaters (which I don't personally recommned as I find updating manuallly much easier in a long term).

install Android (assuming you have a smartphone)?
Because they can? :D I'm not using Android nor Linux on my Switch as I don't need it, but I've seen cases where some games run better on Linux build of a Yuzu emulator for the Switch than on a regular Switch. Maybe they want to run Android games? I don't know, but there are probably some good use cases. Also, using Android on Switch and going online won't get your Switch banned either (as far as I know), so there's that.

install tinfoil (assuming you have a PC)?
Free shops, I guess. Even paid shops, but I'm not sure how well those work. I'm perfectly fine finding the stuff I need the manual way and installing whatever I need via DBI.

update the Firmware?
To play the latest titles that require it?

is there a possibility to be banned by just doing the abovementioned use, without ever going online?
Here's how to avoid getting your console banned. Check the Best Way to Avoid Bans from this thread as well. @Draxzelex made a pretty comprehensive thread about anything related to Switch bans.

In any case, if you ever install e.g. a pirated game on your sysNAND, you are effectivly making it "dirty" i.e. it's no longer "clean". Going online with dirty sysNAND will either get your console banned or flagged to be banned sometime later. Having a dirty sysNAND and not going online is pretty much delaying the inevitable.

If for some reason you want to go online, play official games and use eShop without a problem, make sure to keep your hacking activities to your emuNAND and make sure that you're blocking Nintendo servers by using 90DNS or DNS MITM. Some people say that even blanking your prodinfo is a good thing, just make sure to keep your prodinfo backups safe. Reading from sysNAND is fine, writing anything to it the unofficial way probably isn't.

I've also wrote a short guide on updating your Switch which you can find here.

thank you so much @Blythe93 !! very useful and very thorough indeed. I will definitely use DBI and sys-patch, they look like the easiest options. I will go through the anti-ban guides later.

and thank you @Nephiel too! I was quick enough to go through your answer as well, why did you mention connecting the Switch to the internet to upgrade the firmware? isn't it possible to do it offline through a PC (e.g. with DBI or similar software)?

edit: @Blythe93 was faster than me and much more thorough with the above reply.
I saw your post, and it was alright. You didn't need to delete it. It was probably not as complete as what @Blythe93 posted, but was confirming his statements, so all good. I think it's better to have too much information, rather than not enough.

DBI can do many useful things, but I don't think it can update your firmware (unless it's a new feature I never noticed). To update offline, you would use daybreak, which comes pre-installed with Atmosphere.

That's one of the reasons I deleted it. The fourth bullet point has 4 questions in the same paragraph, I replied to those in order but in the same sentence, and then realized it could lead to confusion. Sorry about that.

You can use homebrew like AIO Updater to download the firmware from the console itself (if it's online) but it's a bit more likely to have issues, so the recommended way is to use a PC.
People who keep a clean sysNAND for online play can also update the official way, then extract the update from there, but that takes a bit more effort.

Either way, you can then use Daybreak offline to install the update.

Need help understanding

Been noticing I think I have a V1 switch, I do everything with HATS and TegraRCM. When in Tegra it noticed I've RCM on, the green light. Yet when I press "inject Payload" it takes awhile...then stops responding. I've researched its either..
1. A cable issue - certain cables don't work, need one that sends data good. An original Samsung cord should do the trick or any that's not in store, preferably online like amazon if Samsung cable is out of the question.
2. Probably have payload.bin or hakate wrong - like which to choose as the way to inject payload

Been told by a friend that the reason Tegra keeps crashing could be because of cable, but after several cables in my house later, and a whole day and a half of attempt later, my switch is patched. As my switch's serial number is a XKW1XXXXXXXXXXX, despite having a HAC - 001 (-01) on the back of my switch. Yet I get the green light on tegra, am I misunderstanding something? I need like some clarification for my copium. thx

Follow this thread to determine if your Switch is truly patched or not.

Thank you, took a while to figure out how cmd works since I've never used it before. Although it is taking a long time for it to do its thing after executing the command. Is that normal?

I believe that all HAC-001(-01) are actually v2 Switches i.e. the patched ones.

Yet I get the green light on tegra
That's probably fine. I believe that you can get into RCM mode even on patched units, but you can't send payloads on those systems.

Damn it, well here's hoping someone's gonna hack the V2 hopefully. Currently huffing copium

Well, the only way nowadays is to install a modchip. I doubt that anything new will be disclosed anytime soon. Maybe once the Switch successor is out and Switch officially retires? Time will tell.

There's also a MIG Switch, a flashcart that allows you to play your personal backups... which can extend to the backups you find available on the Internet? Unfortunately, using publicly available dumps is a huge ban risk and there's a little you can do about it other than follow the MIG Switch team instructions and use the flashcart as it was intended. If you had an already banned Switch, that would be a whole other thing.

Ah ok, worth a shot. Guess I gotta wait for it, I trust someone 100x smarter than me can figure out a hack for mariko or V2 switches.
