I updated to 17.0 through the Nintendo servers a couple of weeks ago now, updated to the latest Atmosphere 1.6.2 and got the latest patches off Sigma, now specifically new games or games with new updates/DLC won't launch, despite working before updating, with the error "The software was closed because an error occurred". Here's a list of games I've tried

Dave the Diver - doesn't work
Mario Wonder - doesn't work
Grandia HD - Works
FFVIII - works
Infernax - doesn't work
Gothic - works
World of Horror - doesn't work
Sonic Superstars - doesn't work
All homebrew games are working

Can anybody please suggest how to fix this as I've been running Atmosphere since 2019 and never had a single issue like this? Thanks

I'm going to try updating Hekate again. I've redownloaded the newest sigpatches multiple times through Sigma and the spigpatch updated app, and it didn't help. The games are from TITSPro so I'm pretty sure it's not the installs, I've tried reinstalling regardless and it also didn't do anything.

creating a new thread for a problem which is treated on other will no help yo to get better answer. you need to update your Atmosphère, Hekate and sigpatches.

That would be all well and good if the exact issue I have was in the main thread and I hadn't already tried everything suggested in there for similar issues. Also, passive aggressively telling me to do something I've already said I'd done multiple times at this point doesn't achieve anything, does it?
Post automatically merged:

Did you try to downgrade your firmware and apply sigpatches for that version?
I have the same issue, but I didn't manage to try this method yet.

Yeah everything worked again on OFW 16.1.0 then updating again broke it all over again

I had the same issue with many games, after updating to 17.0. I had also updated some homebrew apps to ensure everything was compatible. SaltyNX required an additional step after updating - Deleting the .elf file in SaltySD/plugins fixed the issue for me.

Edit: It seems I can’t link, yet but here is a quote from the SaltyNX github 0.7.0 release:

“REMEMBER TO REMOVE NX-FPS.elf and ReverseNX-RT.elfFROM SaltySD/pluginsFOLDER, otherwise there will be dragons!”

Quote from main github page:

“Since 0.7.0 version NX-FPS and ReverseNX-RT are an intergral part of SaltyNX Core. This allows us to run them in 64-bit games not compatible with plugins.”

If removing the .elf file(s) didn’t work for you, then your issue will be something else. What is your error code and what game is it happening on?

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

    I don't pirate them, I Use Them :mellow:. Like I do @BigOnYa 's couch :tpi::evil::rofl2:

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space
