Early footage from Horizon Forbidden West's unreleased multiplayer mode discovered

asdasdasdasd.png

An anonymous user has shared some never before seen footage from what is claimed to be a very early in-development build of PlayStation's Horizon Forbidden West. This was meant to serve as an online co-op mode for the game, though it currently remains unreleased, and Horizon Forbidden West launched as a single player game in early 2022. The alpha is from 2020, according to the leaker, and lines up with developer Guerrilla Games' hiring page, where the company was seeking developers to create, "an online project set in Horizon's universe", as of December 2022. Concept art was also discovered, which has a much more colorful and cartoony style than what Horizon Forbidden West would eventually have.

I hope to see something a bit like the coop mode of starcraft 2
In sc2 coop mode, you fight the main villain of the franchise (Amon) through different scenario that you already had in the franchise, though more difficult.
In the case of Horizon, it could be different scenario ressembling some quests players had in the single player mode involving Nemesis

There's a lot of people speculating "I hope it ___ when it releases"... Given that this is from 2020 and leaking now, I doubt it is releasing. They probably scrapped it, and that's why the individual decided to leak it... Because their hard work will never see the light of day.

They did consider multiplayers for Horizon Zero Dawn, ultimately they went with single player. They said multiplayers would drop the level of detail of the game to 1/2, so that wasn't what they were looking for.

man i love seeing leaks of what "could have been" sometimes for the better, sometimes for the worse. This however was definitely a Grey Area leak, the Multiplayer would have been interesting, but the Fortnite style is just no no no a thousand times no.

They probably said "Hey, why not we combine the two together and make a 'new' DS to sell".

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space
