Gaming Zubo - How do I beat the Space Plant?

In Zubo, how do I get past the Space plant at the UFO crash site?

Repair the teleporter in the crashed ship. You then teleport in batteries for the laser. When inserted the laser automatically zaps the only space plant you need rid of. Ignore the others, although some are dirty and you can mop up the green slime for more notes.
