Gaming Zelda TP Wont Save

Ok,i am in the Gorin Mines and cant save past the part where you go through the door and have to jump across the 2 platforms but must wait until the lava fountains subside then you can jump over them.then you must step on the button using the iron boots to go further.I have gone over an hour after that and saved the game but it keeps taking me back to those 2 platforms once i start again...any ideas why it wont save...thanks
