Not sure if anyone else has suffered the consequences like I did, but I believe I am the first to receive a Nintendo Account ban for Smash Ultimate due to me screwing around with my save files.

Just wanted to let everyone know to be careful when editing your Ultimate save file, if you're going to edit anyway try to not change anything too drastic like unlocking every spirit, or characters. I think Nintendo can very well tell when you're playing legitimately or not.

When trying to play online I received this error:

I'm sure you weren't really surprised by it... it was just matter of time.

More than likely it detected your CFW/Homebrew activity, not your save being illegitimate
How so? I used atmosphere which has anti telemetry feature, I even used 90DNS over it, but admittingly I have had some times where I forgot to use 90DNS with ReiNX and my switch crashed upon boot, but I though all would be fine since "Send Error Info" is unchecked in System Settings.

That setting only refers to third-parties, not Nintendo. You cannot disable sending error information to Nintendo.

Ohh. Oops.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Have you attempted to use any other Online services since your SSBU ban? I wouldn't be surprised if they banned you entirely.
It was just a Nintendo Account ban for Ultimate, not a console ban. I can still go online on other games

I would keep an eye on it brother. If it was a ban for homebrew and not your save then chances are a console ban will shortly follow if they notice you keep your CFW. Very similar to how I got banned. Much luck to you.

Well if this is true then I guess we better play the game legitimately on ofw while using a completed save on emunand or injected in cfw
Still need more info on this if you attempted to play in cfw or used Nintendo's Cloud service to back up the said edited save file are greater reasons for a ban.

It backed up my illegitimate BOTW save before I got my first ban... And I'm now running it on a clean system. So, I'd assume it has more to do with your CFW. Which, of course, isn't undetectable or impervious to Nintendo's report system. No matter what you use.

So what exactly did you edit on your Smash save? You said not to put exaggerated values in your inventory, but are you talking of 999,999 everything? Or impossibly high numbers, like anything around 500,000-999,9999?

I'm thinking this COULD be due to the fact that I backed up my Smash save to Nintendo's cloud, and they may have detected it there.

I just checked stats, and right on there, it displays the amount of gold you've obtained while playing, and below it is the amount of gold you spent. So, there's a lot here already that can show that you've obtained gold illegitimately. For example, having more gold spent than gold obtained, or having more gold in your inventory than what's on the obtained stat. If there's a way to change these to make them much more inconspicuous, that would be great. But as far as I know, no editor is available to do such a thing. My guess is through hex editing? Anyone have any suggestions?

Edit: Oh, and there's also a stat for total SP obtained, however, there doesn't appear to be any logging of SP spent, so I'm assuming you'll be safe for editing SP values, just so long as you've spent enough to be below the amount obtained. But yeah, a stat editor would be really helpful. Just so it can all look as legal as possible. Other giveaways can also include having a ridiculous amount of spirit cores (255 for each) and having all main and support spirits, as the way you obtain them is also logged in stats. So having that many cores, but having little spirits dismissed... Yeaaaah, plenty can go very wrong there.

Check your email, you should have received a email about your application ban

You mean you got your illegitimate save data onto a clean Switch? How'd you do that?

They said the Nintendo Cloud Backup wound up saving their hacked BOTW save data, prior to being banned. Once they got a clean Switch, they logged into their Nintendo account, and downloaded the backup, which still had all the hacks present. So this begs the question of whether or not backed up save data is checked for any hacks or mods, but since they're able to run their hacked data on the new Switch, whatever caused the ban must be CFW related. However, getting on Smash Online and battling, does write to your records, so who knows if Smash is an exception?

@The Real Jdbye, I thought about that and I have blank DVD's and Blurays but honestly after like 90 songs I just listen to it a couple of hundred times toss it out and burn something else or have like 2-3 CD's. Florida here the heat in the car tends to ruin the CD's after like a few months even commercial pressed ones don't last too long.
