After initially releasing to complaints over a low-quality translation on PlayStation 4 and Vita, Ys VIII was also scheduled to release on PC/Steam. However, publisher NIS America delayed the game, leaving PC players with no scheduled timeframe for release. Now, the company has announced that after fixing some bugs, re-translating the game, and optimizing it for the platform, Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana will be ready next month, in April.

Ys VII: Lacrimosa of Dana is currently on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita, and will also be getting a Nintendo Switch port later this summer.

If a company is known to only have hits, they don't expect misses, moral from the beginning of time is "No one is perfect" Is just hard to satisfy everyone. I haven't tried the game for myself so I can't give opinions. But I mean you know is just how people are. I'm satisfied with the standards of localization for many things, but stuff like typos, and grammar errors, that is bad.

So does anyone who played the game tell me what this controversy about the poor translation is?

Maybe they should just ask square enix to localize the game, that what capcom did with the SNES breath of fire games before they actually got serious about localization of games. Ask any other competent people

What's the point of a good translation if the weebs are going to race for an undub? It only behoves people like me who like to understand the games they're playing, that's not high on the weeb priority list.

Some benefit, I guess. I was playing Blazblue and guilty gear games, mostly cause it had english voice overs, then they didn't have them so I stop caring and buying it. Obviously I play the game in english with english vo simply cause it makes it easier to play. I know english and understand it, way easier to process for me than having to read a limited timed text on screen without trying to lose all that information.

I dunno, maybe that what they want, people to get the undub, if people want to spend more money for shipping across the world to buy a game just cause of something like "It has the japanese voice, so I get a authentic experience" Then "LOL" The only problem is that it makes for some potential games that could have been localized here or even made a greater impact on our gaming culture is getting overshadowed by the fact some people just care too much on negative when it hardly impacts the actual product.
