News: when talking to the NPCs, you know those NPC names, right? 95% done

now we less than 5 names left in the spread sheet, and once those are filled in, NPC names can be completely done.

Oh yes it is a great series...

A translation patch is most likely to come out in this order:

1. After the database is completely translated

2. there are 8 script files - so a patch after every 4 probably.

3. After the final testing (if there is any problems)
there are no promises though, but I am thinking this is how it should be released.
 
see, this stuff is easy. the script is what I have trouble on.

you see the text up there on the top screen? (the graphic) that's what you need to edit XP
seems hard to keep the effect, but I hope you can make it look good (like so it has the same graphic format)
 
I started editing the font with Darthnemesis's tool and it looks really better now.
Plus we can fit more text in a line.

It will take some time before I'm finished with the font.

not the solid font, something nice like loz ph (well even though that font is 2 bpp)
Well...I don't like that font either, if Darthnemesis implements more functions to the NFTR editor it would be easier to use the PH font if we scale it down a little.
 
no, i meant I want a font that will fit the game. The basic fonts are just too plain.

Now I wanna know how to edit the script

(because I have the PC game, I can write the translation for you)

Let's finish the comn files first and then we can worry about the script.
 
don't worry about the comn files (i've done the translation on them that was possible) so we should worry about the script right now.

which means most of the NPC names (the ones that are translated so far), item names, and the descriptions that are translated are done

The comn files are EASY. It's the script that I have pointer troubles with

And it doesn't take me that long - I just write the text in order, trying to use the least amount of space possible (so taking out the extra bytes), then I write all the pointers on a piece of paper (takes only a couple of minutes) and I change the pointers. The whole process doesn't take long - I just need more text on the spread sheet XP
If you know how the script file is set up (as people of romhacking.net is not helping me)
then you can start working on the script (I can give the the english lines from the translation of the PC version)
 
umm...I gotta take a look at the script files first.I will do that as fast as I leave school today.
Edit: You can always create a topic hear many people will be willing to help out with the pointers (I guess).

good to hear that.I haven't done much work since the beginning of the translation so I hope I can work on the ScriptBarba.bin file.
