Since I have an o3DS XL with Luma3DS and the browser version and eShop versions of YouTube don't work, how do I get them working or is there a homebrew YouTube app with better functionality? The official app is going soon too.

It means get youtube on something completely different. The company has shown they dont care to keep it properly updated. Dont waste your time with the 3ds version.

Sadly unless its a new model you wont be able to watch YouTube on your 3DS once the official app for it has been discontinued. With the new model you can continue to watch YouTube with the web browser which does not work on the old model.

He did half jokingly suggest looping the hoses to bypass the heater core but I'm like nah the car is still just a little too recent to be doing those kinds of fixes to it

I rarely do this, just because it really isn't necessary to me personally. And also, the clock batteries in the Wii do last for quite a long while.
