Well xbox's Natal project get it's answer from Nintendo Wii with the help of Ubisoft camera that brings new motion control : "Your ShApe"
youtube video
A camera connected in USB slot! Cool, what about to make a new Hombrew like the USB-loader, that could get data from a connected usb-camera and translate this data onto the wii! Just like Shape recognition (circle/square/triangle drawn on piece of paper, which is shown to the video camera! )
I'm sure We/Wii have hier (on this awsome big dev-site...
) very talented & skilled coders who would take & hit this very exciting challenge: making a USB-BodyMotion !
To start hier here, i found this OpenCV library: OPENCV
* Open source computer vision library in C/C++.
* Optimized and intended for real-time applications.
* OS/hardware/window-manager independent.
* Generic image/video loading, saving, and acquisition.
* Both low and high level API.
* Provides interface to Intel's Integrated Performance Primitives (IPP) with processor specific optimization (Intel processors).
