This is impressive. I've always found it odd and bland that localization teams are taking too much of liberation including censorship in their work. I'm a big fan of Xeno games and if something turns me off, it's a bad localization because they're not following the original concept and story that deeply at all.

Just a small doubt. I noticed the latest patch version is v0.0.46, but it seems most of the base game (if not all) has already been translated. Would you consider the progress made so far would be enough to enjoy the game as you intended or do you still think there's some small details to polish still needed?
I'm currently at the Jin and Metsu fight after Nia becomes a Blade. Chapter 7, I think?

Well, small errors are bound to happen. Surely there will happen some typo, incorrectly split sentence etc. There shouldn't be any [major] translation errors - it is being checked on a regular basis with 2 independent people.

I am playing this game myself for the second time and funny enough - I am in the exact same spot of the game as you are. During the playthrough, I check the dialogues as they appear in the game.
If I find anything, I correct the errors, which is included in each subsequent version of the patch.

What is done until now

- All names, proper names, place names, names related to lore, NPC names etc are restored to the original ones (in all dialogues in the game).
- Dialogues in the main storyline are translated from scratch for the most part
- Dialogues in “Bonding Talk” are translated from scratch for the most part
- Some side quests are either translated from scratch or just corrected in some places.

Will there be any more dialogue changes in the main story? There certainly will be. But I don't think they will change the meaning in any way. At most, some sentences may be revised to sound more natural or make more sense.

I would definitely need more testers. Everyone would want to play the finished version, but it is impossible for me to be able to check and test such a massive game by myself. I don't have that much free time.
If you want to help, I'll send you a link to discord, where you can paste screenshots with any bugs found or suggestions.

  • Re-translated many field skills.
  • Restored additional heaven names (e.g., Shamayim from Smùide).

  • Restored more land/landmark names to their original names.
 
First of all I would like to thank you for this translation and the second part is how do you manage to take those screenshots? They looks so clean and high res

I play on the emulator with resolution and drawing distance patches.
thank you for your response, after seeing your retranslation mod I really wanted to replay this game in higher res and after looking through the forums I found one named "Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Graphics Settings" I guess this is where you got the patches right?

Actually, no. It was a github repository, but I don't remember which one. I can send you those mods. But they are really demanding. You need a very high-end PC to use them.

Please send them to me I really want to play with high res. And I think Im covered with the high end pc with a 4070 and 5800x3d :D

Well, RTX4090 and R9 7950x3d aren't enough to use this mod with 2x resolution scale and 60FPS patch, so I'm playing with Lossless Scaling framegen instead.
 
Mod isn't working. When I place it in the mod folder it crashes Yuzu when I try to run the game or right click "properties".

EDIT: Nevermind I'm a moron somehow my prod keys weren't installed

Can't wait to play this game the way is was intended to be played (already played through it on my Switch years ago but it always bugged me that what I see on the screen wasn't matching what I was hearing, especially in the names)

EDIT 2: Well, never mind the game runs now and the mod is enabled with the 2.1 update & DLC but when I select new game I don't get the select Japanese prompt? This is running Citron 0.6.1

If you want to use your old save to start an "advanced new game" (or just continue playing), open save folder, backup all files and then delete bf2option.sav. Then the game will ask you to pick the language again.

If it doesn't work, it means you copied it to the wrong folder.
This is what the path should look like.
\load\0100E95004038000\Xenoblade 2 Unburger\romfs

Ah yup, I deleted the options file and ran it again and got the prompt to hit X -> A so I should be good to go now, thanks!

If I may though I did stumble across some spelling errors (using the 2.0 version) which I will leave here

Things like Cl Sea, can w, communicatio, puts at you at, etc are the result of line cut due to per line character limit (I just have to divide these lines elsewhere).
This should not be a problem later in the game, as I added a character-counting function in my translation app later on. But I didn't catch some things in the first chapters nonetheless.

“Da” and 'Ma', on the other hand, are the invention of localizers, and in dialogues outside the main storyline (which are mostly untouched for now aside from the dozen or so side missions involving the main characters and all the “Bonding Talk”) they are not re-translated yet.
As for honorifics - these will stay as they are. I left “My lady” because I honestly haven't seen fan translations ever leave ojou-sama. Likewise with otou-sama etc.

No - quite the opposite. The more mistakes are fixed the better. At the moment, only me and a good friend of mine are making this translation. Where he does more text checking than translating. If you want, join the discord. There is a section dedicated to errors there. There aren't a lot of people there yet and so far I'm the only one posting the updates.

I figured some of them were because of the character limit but I figured it was better to capture a screen of it then not just in case.

I thought the "da" might have been from the original localization since they put a very British/European spin on things

any difference between this and the Delocalization and ReTranslation patch?

edit 2: by any chance, are you interested in checking how possible it is to also create a Retranslation Mod for Xenoblade Chronicles X Definitive Edition?
as I must asume, it did receive heavy localization like XC2 and 3 (afterall, it released I think the same year as the whole Fire Emblem Fates Localization fiasco, one which is getting a proper translation slowly with TeamIf that restarted working in the English Patch, me being a tester during the new updates)


also, any plans on also doing this with Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition?

I have to ask will this work with the dlc areyou preparing a mod for the dlc so you are updating the link you put in the first page.
DOes this work with yuzu emulator

how do I install citron emulator, the patch and transfer the game files to emulator
