excited to make use of the mod
any difference between this and the Delocalization and ReTranslation patch?

edit 2: by any chance, are you interested in checking how possible it is to also create a Retranslation Mod for Xenoblade Chronicles X Definitive Edition?
as I must asume, it did receive heavy localization like XC2 and 3 (afterall, it released I think the same year as the whole Fire Emblem Fates Localization fiasco, one which is getting a proper translation slowly with TeamIf that restarted working in the English Patch, me being a tester during the new updates)


also, any plans on also doing this with Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition?

I have no plans to re-translate other games like this one. I only did delocalization patches that are bringing back terminology and original names/proper names for other Xenoblade games. In addition to making gameplay more enjoyable, they can be a good base if someone would like to translate these games.
I have to ask will this work with the dlc areyou preparing a mod for the dlc so you are updating the link you put in the first page.
DOes this work with yuzu emulator

how do I install citron emulator, the patch and transfer the game files to emulator
1) it works with all DLCs, including Iira one.
2) I have plans to translate the main storyline from the Iira DLC, but for now only names are restored and proper names.
3) Yuzu is outdated, use Citron, it's basically Yuzu with new dev team
4) Citron=Yuzu, just move files from yuzu and it will work.

This won't work. Not only does this mod use bdat from the gb folder (mine uses jp), but it overwrites common_ms.bdat, which is crucial because it stores all the names variable. Just to get ahead of your question - I'm not planning to make a version compatible with this mod. I have zero interest in mods that mess with the game's logic or change how the developers designed it, sorry.

You can try without common_ms.bdat, as this file is probably used to change texts and messages, so the mod should likely work without it (common.bdat is outside language files) - you just won't see the modified texts.

Currently, with the recent updates

Its the Delocalization and Retranslation of XC2 at a state to play a full playthrough?

I'm waiting until there's a final update, but if its good at the moment, I can start a new save file with the mod enabled then and update it as new update of this project continues to come
 
I have the game with the translated text, however, the game is mute when it comes to voices. Do you know the reason why this is happening? At the moment, I only have the base game + version 2.1.

It only works with original voices. So Japanese audio DLC is mandatory. The dub is not supported (and never will be).
I thought it was clear - why would anyone use this patch with dub? :)

It has been so long since I played the game that I absolutely forgot that the Japanese audio was DLC. Sorry about the silly question ^^'

Does Tora call Rex Bossman in this patch?
No, but he uses “Boss.”
I wondered if I should just use “Aniki,” but the Tora is using “Aniki” here not as a term for older brother but more like slang usage for "leader."
This and “my lady” (Byakko to Nia) are the only places where I did not use common Japanese honorifics.
 
I always saw the use of "aniki" as bro like how Simon calls Kamina "aniki" in Gurren Lagann. I do think bro sounds better than boss. Boss feels more formal or professional and Tora and Rex don't have that type of relationship. Tora is more casual with Rex and he greatly admires him. I don't speak Japanese so I do realize I could be wrong and Boss might be the more accurate translation, but bro made more sense to me
 
v0.2.4 - IMPORTANT
IMPORTANT
The game is crashing during the final cutscene. The final cutscene with credits is implemented via a video file. This single video file is missing in the English version of the game, so the game is crashing.
(Or rather, 2 videos - two for the same scene. I won't spoil what it's about. If you want to read about it, reveal the spoiler below)


These videos are slightly different in both versions. Homura's/Hikari's lips are animated slightly different in the Western version. It's really subtle, but there is a difference.
The bdat files actually contain the text for this single scene, but they have the [ML:undisp ] tag (which prevents the line from showing).
In the original version it is like:
[ML:undisp ] ただいま | I'm back (phrase that you use when you're coming back home)
[ML:undisp ] はじめまして | Nice to meet you

Back to the patch. The installation will be split into 2 files. Since the videos I mentioned take up about 400MB, they will be placed in a separate link. The rest of the patch will be in a zip file in the theme, as always. The part with the video files only needs to be installed once.

Isn't Xenoblade Chronicles 2 the same for all regions?

As in, the catrige/digital editions include all languages

Why would it miss one cutscene? Unless it is on the game but its disabled or something

Or did XC2 had a Japanese only release with the cutscene still being there, while the international release deleted it?

It isn't. The Western version is different from the Asian version to some degree. It's missing all Asian languages too. And no, the original Japanese version has no US cutscenes. It was released first in Japan and Asia.

I have another question
it happens that I also got a physical copy of Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Torna The Golden Country, as its own
by any chance, could you check if this patch could be used for that release as well?

the title ID for the standalone release should be 0100C9F009F7A000
Honest, I'm mostly curious if its possible
I don't have problems playing it through my copy of Xenoblade Chronicles 2 with the Patch applied
but it would be awesome if the standalone release can also receive the benefits of the Delocalization & Translation Patch as well

The promp to choose language appears as mentioned in the post, I press X and then A, and then it closes

It says the software was closes because an error occurred

But I know the patch was working before because I had a previous save file on my Switch

What should I do?
Do launching the game without the patch and then with it would fix it?

and then with it

it worked
still confused as to why it gave me an error when doing it without any save data, as choosing the language in the promp screen causes it to close

Strange. I just checked it (with empty save data of course) and the game starts normally, both on the Switch and on the emulator.
 
This Delocalization & Retranslation Patch its amazing
just curious about another thing

isn't much easier to port the text to the Japanese release?
or its easier to take missing stuff from the Japanese release into the American Localized Xenoblade Chronicles 2?

also, the site I used to look for the title id for X2 says the JP Releases does includes English, is this incorrect as well?

Just wanna know which method you find easier when delocalizing the game

Also, would love to see the standalone release to get support in the future as well

I now understand why it wasn't working for me

I pressed Y instead of X
My brain memory always thinks X its in the place of Y when it comes to controllers (as I do use an Xbox One S Controller for my PC most of the time)

You can try adding this mod to the stand-alone version. Probably the same files will be used, so maybe it will work. I haven't tested it.
I tried the patch for the standalone Torna/Iira DLC
just the main menu at least, and it works
the only thing seems to be that all the menu options are in Japanese
unlike the DLC Expansion inside Xenoblade 2 where the options menu its in English

The patch works though, I think its the menus that need to be checked out

I registered an account just to say thank you for your hard work. I didn't really like the game originally when I played the English version, then I learned about how much was changed. I never expected someone to make a patch like this. I just finished replaying and the story is so much better. Thank you.
