My shoulder buttons weren't working properly, so I decided to clean them. I used isopropyl, rubbing gently with a toothbrush. The R button was fixed, but the L button now acts like if it's always pressed. The button is not stuck neither loose, same with the spring. It clicks correctly, I didn't dissasembly the mecanism, just rub the alcohol over it. The input is still active even if I remove the shoulder button.

My supposition is that I used more isopropyl by accident, but I'm not really sure how that could affect it since it's not conductive. I have to say that, in the past, I used to blow the shoulder buttons so they can work.

Do I need to completely replace the mechanism?

For me, the inner exploration of the mechanism would be the best solution to find out where the problem comes from:

1. a foreign body blocks the system.

2. more delicate, dust has deposited on the contact washer of the button switch, it is easy to repair but you have to take your time to carry out the repair carefully here is a video which shows the protocol to follow :

what interests us in this video starts at 6:14 min, even if it is a video concerning the dsi it is exactly the same protocol for the L and R triggers of the DS Lite
