If you were stranded and on the cusp of starvation, would you eat a dead human raw, or die?
I would build a fire to cook him, eating raw meat will be worse for you than being hungry.
neither. that's disgusting.
No. For you see, Trollbrain would keep reminding me that this was once a human being, overriding my survival insinct and forcing me to die hungry.
I'd eat the shit out of him/her.
...First create a realistic situation in which humans are LITERALLY the only thing left to eat, and then I'll give my answer.
I would probably let them eat me... unless they are scumbags
anyway raw meat it dangerous and disgusting... you should always cook people
No. I'd eat dirt before I eat human.
Yes I would eat it then die after because there won't be anything after I eat the human
Expanding on what was stated in the shoutbox: you do what you must if you truly want to survive.
Blood pools in the low parts of a dead body and causes bruises. This would be less healthy than "eating from the top" so to speak. So if they've been lying on their back, you don't want to eat their gluteal muscles, for instance.
Muscle will carry you further than fat, but either would be beneficial at that point.
Don't try to eat the skin. That would only reinforce the thought of precisely what you're eating.
I'm pretty sure everyone here does not know whether or not they would do it.
I am seeing tons of people saying no and things like "They would override their survival instinct" but to die hungry is not instant. Eventually you will either have to kill yourself because it just seems like an eternity to die hungry or go with your instinct and eat a dead person. Not to mention, how hard it is to kill yourself unless you have a weapon that would do it instantly and even then you may still survive for some amount of time.
Imagine watching the world's most boringest movie, put it on loop for 3-5 days straight, put the remote to turn off the movie right in front of you, and see if you leave it on for the 3-5 days straight.
Not to mention, none of the people who said no realize that they would be in a whole different mentality at this point so using your current mentality to answer the question is wrong.
Who ever said i needed meat to survive?!?
If there is absolutely nothing else sustainable in a distance that can be traveled by (I am assuming) foot, then if it came down to it... those who are to survive are the ones who will adapt to their conditions. Survival of the fittest. The weakest ones are going to start getting picked off. But I have a hard time imagining that it would be emotionally possible to even do it. Killing a person would be one thing... difficult by any person of sound mind. Eating them afterwards?
In any situation like that though it is very unlikely that there would be no vegetation or wildlife around to sustain you.
If it was the only way to sustain my life and didn't involve killing. Sure, why not.
With some fava beans and a nice chianti.
I would. Probably would even let the non tasty parts go to waste and move on to the next human
Thinking reasonably, I can assert that eating a raw corpse (especially if it's been like that for quite some time) is far worse than not eating it at all. Point being, I don't think it'll make the situation better (maybe even worsen it, if you get a disease from it...). Plus, I wouldn't be emotionally sane.
I'd rather die naturally (somehow), rather than corrupting myself, when there's no certain hope of surviving.
How recently dead?
I don't want to bite into some pocket of pus or something, man.
While I would probably go crazy if I was ever in a situation like that, my thoughts atm would say yes, I would eat them. They are dead. The body becomes an empty shell (as the Klingons would put it), and you're still alive, and if eating the body meant your survival, then so be it.
