With the recent sting against mod chips and boot discs, I was wondering; are Flash Carts in the same land of illegal-ness? I know Swap Magic doesn't violate copyright, but it's deemed illegal. I hope the same can't be said for flash carts.

Ah, let me get this then; Using it to play videos, music, and homebrew = legal.

Using it to play commercial games = not legal.

So, as long as said flash cart wasn't used for the latter, it'd be in the free boundary, sorta like DVD's/CD's when it comes to certain content?

It probably depends on country still.

I don't see why they would try to catch you, there are larger problems with piracy elsewhere

^Per chance, did he sell and distribute them? He had to do something that put him above average joe eye view of the public with the authorities.

he brought them mostly, and sold couple inside school and outside.

Sometimes he used to steal Japanse pirate dvd sellers, by telling them cops are nearby So they run away leaving the bag full of dvds.

hahaha yeah

The best place to do it (In the US at least) would probably be Chinatown - just go a street of Chinatown that has some particularly shady businesses, yell "COPS!", and reap the benefits of the dropped merchandise.

NOT LIKE I WOULD STEAL FROM POOR CHINATOWNMEN OR ANYTHING

The legality of flashcarts depends on who you ask. Ask Nintendo, for instance......

Nintendo more or less goes along the lines that ANY backup is illegal, when it isn't as long as it's one by you, for you, with the original being from you.

I meant in the legal field, not in the corporate standard sense.

It's like emulators. By itself, it's legal, but let's be honest, does anyone ever NOT use it for illegal activities?
