Can we implement a URL filter for certain YouTube videos or would that be too much work? This is mainly focused around 3DS "haxx" threads that seem to post the same video over and over.

It would just stop them from embedding it. You can take any url, run it through tinyurl, and still have them post the link to the Youtube video you're referring to.

well majority of url shortners could be seen through though. It would just take the server attempting to download the page contents of the url. If the url's status code is 301 (moved) then the url is also in the status code, you can also check for metaredirects as well rather easily. Then just apply it recursively until the pages stop redirecting. Of course this would be an overcomplicated system that would fail at solving the problem. Links can still go to blogs, etc and their could even be crafter url shortners that use javascript or some other technique to sneakily redirect.

If people reported the posted that'd probably be the best solution :P

Reporting didn't prevent dhero's thread from reaching 17 pages.

I've reported some of these without them getting locked as well.

EDIT: Not to say I agree with the URL filter idea.
