There's really no need for further testing. Once cIOS 249 is installed you can do anything you've done before since the trucha-bug is now reintroduced into the system and all is well in the uniiverse.

First off, how did you boot it so I can edit my first post.

2nd I cant help you with Hermes as I've never used it before.

I booted it through the homebrew channel, you have to use the Any Title Deleter MOD version because it lets you choose which IOS to boot from, and I have to use 249 because I unstubbed it.

once you delete them with the Any Title Deleter MOD then you can just load the Hermes cIOS installer like regular from the Homebrew Channel, again, I had to select to use IOS249 because that is the one I unstubbed, from there it is installation as usual.

but you are correct, once we got our foot in the backdoor with cBoot2 and IOS249, then we can use that to load everything else in the Homebrew Channel and don't have to use cBoot2 anymore.
It seemed to be very successful, no error messages, I just can't test now to be sure. Someone with a Guitar and Mic should test to see if they are functional.

right, editting first post for people.

One thing I want cleared up.

DOP-IOS v8 and Preloader

Run DOP-IOS to Trucha enable IOS36 so you can install preloader (at preloader install press 1 twice)

Again, I have no idea if this can brick you, Fenrir said you can do this without a risk, but also I've never used DOP-IOS before (how the hell am I supposed to know all this...???)

Here's another advice for you. You can say on your post that you can also use the SmashStack exploit to run the Hackmii installer and don't forget to write somewhere that you're not responsible if someone bricked his Wii by following your tutorial. Well, something like this.

My point here is use ATD before you install cIOS. Since you have cIOS in 249, there is no need to use ATD. Use cIOS with Wad Manager and you can install what ever you want, no matter if the slot were occupied.....

Not possible, it simply wont boot, get error message.

Check my first post for fully updated guide

Ran DOP-IOS MOD v5 to trucha IOS36

ran the preloader 0.29 installer and it was successful, we have liftoff!

well, everything seems to work, I hope I was of assistance.

Great guide and let me know if you want me to try anything else.

panze, what hermes did you use? so I can add link to first post. the mediafire I sent you or the one from loader website?

Posts merged

can you also describe the steps you took in hermes ?

UPDATE:

preloader even with the 4.2 hacks cannot boot into the system menu, it says it can't find the hacks.ini on NAND or FAT

(it is on my SD Card)

it also won't boot into the homebrew channel

my wii is basically bricked except that I have bootmii on it and so bootmii starts first.

how can we solve this problem/ how can I remove preloader?

I used the Hermes link you gave me here

http://usbloadergx.koureio.net/downloads

the steps that I took are as followed.

Start up the Hermes cIOS Installer from the Homebrew Channel and it asks you which IOS you want to use to install the other IOSes, select IOS249 because that is the one you have unstubbed

then select to install Hermes IOS222 (the default)

then I say use IOS 38 (Recommended)

then it downloads a lot of files... off of the internet

and finishes successfully, congratulations you now have Hermes IOS 222

You can't boot The Homebrew Channel from preloader, because the HBC has a title name of JODI instead of HAXX.

Edit: You must wait for a preloader update.

what message do you get when trying to boot sysmenu?

go to settings, change used ios to 60 (should get users manual bla bla)
preloader again, change used ios to 61
preloader again, change back to 60

This is what I had alot and used to get back in sysmenu.

Btw, check my first post, it's editted and also a note on how to make preloader 0.29 boot HAXX >>> JODI

try making a new ini file in notepad.
paste this into it (depending on US or PAL wii)

CODEUSA 4.2

[Disable HAXX,DVDX,RZDx checks]
version=481
offset=0x813345A0
value=0x60000000

EUR 4.2

[Disable HAXX,DVDX,RZDx checks]
version=482
offset=0x81334610
value=0x60000000

Save as: "hacks.ini" (including "")

save to root of SD, try booting preloader again and see if you can activate the hacks now

did you try my preloader method?

Ok before I didn't have the hacks.ini on the root of my SD Card.

Now I do and I went to the hacks and enabled the one you told me to (the 4.2 one)

now when I try to load the homebrew it still says it can't find it

and when I try to load the wii menu it just black screens.

How can I uninstall preloader?

one thing that may be a problem is even in the settings when I save it to use IOS60, on the main preloader screen it still says IOS70

maybe I'd have to reinstall it?
