I don't know if the 3DS will die soon...
I think that the Switch will not have all the features that the 3DS has the StreetPass connectivity; I haven't seen neither a camera...
Also, I think that the 3DS battery is more durable than the battery of the Switch

Given that the 3DS XL, N3DS and N3DS XL* all use the same battery, I'm guessing the Switch might also use that battery to cut costs.

* Possibly others, I just don't have any other consoles to check.

@Haider Raza
That would definitely be another hype for me. I can't wait. hehe
Yeah! I'm also a big fan of dual screen console. Nintendo will not shut down the ds becuase past years they sold 75million units of 3ds.

Unlike the Switch and 3ds, the Wii U was still tied to the console at short range. They aren't even carrying the dual screen idea from the Wii U.
Because Wii U is totally different from handheld but still half handheld. Wii U was like Wii & PSP combination. They (WII & WII U) were like consoles which we plug to tv screen. Just like the Play Station & Xbox. Wii U didn't have much of a specs thats why they made Switch or code name NX. So they can compete with others like PS4 Pro & Xbox One S. The Nx have Nvidia Geforce Graphics in it.

The widely accepted but (I think; I can't be arsed to look) never confirmed theory is that the DS was called DS and not GBA2 or GBA² or GB Even More Advanced because it was an experiment that Nintendo was not sure would succeed, and they did not want a failed console to be tied to the GBA name. When it became wildly successful, they decided to keep it and phase out the GBA.
If the Switch fails, I'm sure there are enough projects in the pipeline to keep the 3DS alive until they release the "real" successor, and if the Switch succeeds, the DS is doomed.
DS = Doomed Soon ;O;

My main point is, the Wii U didn't conflict with the 3DS as much as the Switch is. Switch has so much power, what's the point of another handheld? How many would want to carry or buy a "4DS" and Switch?

Again switch is just a replacement for Wii U becuase Wii U had bad specs.

Simple Nintendo wants profit. If they had sold millions of 3ds units past years. They would love to continue the Ds scene.

The switch isn't portable. It's "portable" in that you can easily move it from one house to another, but it's not portable like the DS line is.

Um, Nintendo has sold millions of units. They've sold 60 million. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nintendo_3DS_sales

Even the Wii U has sold millions of units.

Exactly, From the size shown in the trailer it's not going to fit in your pocket. Not even with the joycons removed. Not even close.

3ds got sold way better ten Wii U. Switch is same as Wii U but with better graphics.

Switch has none of the features of the WiiU and is a portable console. I really don't get why people believe it is a "successor" or "replacement" of the WiiU when there are no similarities.

The switch doesn't fit as Wii U successor nor as 3DS successor though. I think Nintendo just saw that their consoles were doing poorly and their handhelds did far better. So now they've made a handheld console. Hopefully we'll have both the switch and in a few years the "4DS". Since there's only nintendo making handhelds now it wouldn't be that big of a problem. You'd have the big bulky switch for portable console gaming and the "4DS" for handheld gaming with the same kind of games you had on 3DS.

Parents will not buy a switch for their little children. There will be another cheap and robust handheld. Probably it will be rather a "2DS 2" than a "4DS".

You never had Wii U that's why you don't get that. Difference is it uses carts rather then cds. Otherwise it is same as Wii U. Switch will get same games of Wii U plus it can be used with t.v just like Wii U. Wii U was also kind of portable.

My point was that a measly million units sold isn't a measure of success.
Well when they get profit it is a success for them.

They switched Wii U to NX thats my point.

    @SylverReZ, I also heard one of the Prince of Persia games was so unfinished that it required the "24/7 online" drm so a puzzle could be done and the game could be finished. And that when the Ubisoft servers were closed the (cracked) game was impossible to finish or something like that
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
    @Xdqwerty, That's extra scummy. Ubisoft nowadays ship out incomplete games like Skull and Bones which was being worked on for nearly a decade now.
