So now its no longer a KARL vs OSKA...
It still is in the sense that KARL is still anti-piracy is OSKA is piracy-neutral. Once OSKA gets to the parts that KARL doesn't want to open source at all my guess is development will split into 2 teams again.

So that just means he is only doing 1/8 of the work while letting others do the rest? Wow...some dev work in play there.

... cursing the gods of team KARL...
Sure... I'll take on the fight for KARL. Basically they have there reasons on not supporting this cause. If you don't like it than work with the OP and to get him where he needs to be so he can PLEASE all you poor folks out there who can't afford the GW card. Thats basically it. Sitting here cursing the gods of team KARL isn't going to get you anywhere. He doesn't need beta testers he needs programmers to help with dev work. Who the fuck needs beta testers for QA when you can test the code yourself, which is what KARL has been doing if for some pissed off reason you haven't been visiting there thread.
So no I'm not shitting on the OP, if he's not allowed to use KARL'S work for his cause than he has to move on and continue the uphill battle. Why waste time on sitting here waiting for a response when that time can be spent dev code.
3k3y didn't share shit with team Cobra, they went and found there own methods. Guess whose now leading the ps3 ode scene, Team Cobra.
Don't be a dickhead today, fight your instincts.

the work that japanese numbers guy had been doing is now open-sourced by the Karl folk, so he's choosing to use their code (possibly improve upon it?) instead of continuing what he had written.soooooo development on OSKA has stopped, or just the parts that are already open source on KARL?
also how can there be a licence issue for open source software, that defeats the point of open source in the first place.
It never was.
They will, when finished and released, do the same thing.
One will hide their code in their own computers, where people won't be able to view it freely.
The other will store their code on a github, freely browsable by others.
Any other goals are out of scope for both. Members are just super-silly.

Overall, he's now further than he was, but with less code of his own.
As to why licensing is important, you don't want someone using an open source project in an expensive product, and then claiming it was all their work.
Licenses are there to show respect and thanks to the people who actually wrote the code which you use.
Ya but I assume once they hit parts that are closed source with KARL they will branch off again. As for licences what I mean is they are both free projects, so there really shouldn't be an issue
well that's the main point, its karl3DS but for playing roms.....and it wouldn't really put sky out of business as they would still have the 9.3-9.5+ customer base that this wouldn't support, but gateway wouldn't fare well from it......but tbh most of this atm is just "the public parts of karl3DS"This has probably been answered, but a quick search through the 34 pages doesn't yield.
Could this potentially be used for piracy? Rendering GW/Sky3DS obsolete?
I'm confused right now
the project for the time has been set aside by the developers , if you yourself are a developer you can continue the development of Oska
