From what I can see, this project is coming along well! Currently, we have three notable projects in the community: KARL3DS, rxTools, and OSKA. Just because we have three growing projects doesn't mean that it is a race in any way. Each is different from each other, and it's good that there is diversity. Take your time to make a quality project, and don't allow people to be idiots.

As for the newest release, I am curious as to what it can do. I do not own a copy of Cubic Ninja, otherwise I'd check it out myself. From what I can see from Zoogie's photo, it seem as if you can boot a CFW, choose options for your CFW which I assume are patches, choose some NAND options which I assume are dumping or formating SD for CFW, and crypto options that I have no clue idea what they are.

I HIGHLY suggest you to get a copy of cubic ninja if you want to try by yourself. ;)

Actually no, that was a mistake on my part, you cannot boot any CFW from this at all, period. That menu is a really really early build which was unstable as fak, the SD stuff was still unstable and frequently caused invalid dumps (and like he said earlier, hangs on dumping sometimes). Also couldn't boot any firmware at that point either, we hadn't gotten that sorted out. I've corrected the repository for now, but we have plans to release some sort of "recovery" menu eventually.

to be honnest, the menu looks like a psp recovery menu :P

Ah, I understand now. I was very mislead by the menu. Thank you for the response.

Also to clarify the reason for the mistake, I believe that binary came from my early ARM9 repo before we decided to keep it closed for the time being, so it really is an extremely early build. That repo was eventually moved elsewhere but it seems the old payload remained instead of the usual stripe demo. But like Wolfy said, the SDMMC code wasn't stable yet so the SD and NAND ran a risk of being bricked due to faulty code. We've since fixed this.

so, the stripes everyone esle got means it succeded on arm9 code execution, correct?

Simple query - will we be able to flash a nand image in case of a brick using the said recovery menu? Like we can do in Android?

Software restoration is basically impossible because you have to be able to get to the point where you can exploit to run ARM9 code.

You can write a NAND backup back to the NAND, but you can't use that to unbrick. Just to go from one working NAND backup to another.

Version/Console?

Not without a hardware mod, and even then I'm not even sure what's in that revision, for all I know it could have been one of my testing revisions where I kinda experiment with things. I think in one I attempted to read out the SecureInfo_A and then write to it, but it turned out that it just caused a soft brick due to missing cias. I think I tried out a few other similar things as well, most of which failed and needed a hard mod to flash back.

Tried this with my n3DS XL, it showed the lines briefly and then crashed the system (force closed itself, asking for a system reboot). Don't know what's causing it, but I better not mess around with it too much XD

Thanx a lot for answering that query :)
