1. I keep the isos backed up on a 1TB external HDD in case something goes wrong.
2. I don't like making covers.
3. Yeah, I'll burn a game if it doesn't work with the USB Loader.

I'm sticking with disc. I perfer to have a physical collection. It makes things feel more meaningful. Especially when you make disc labels get the white DVD cases and print out boxarts and instruction booklets. I love making my collection look as close to the real thing as possible

Another thing I love about using the HDD instead of DVDs is that I don't have to switch discs to play a different game. I can just quit to the Wii Menu, then start a different game from the USB Loader straight away.

I dont use the loader. I have each game stored on the system menu as a channel. The channels launch the games via USB. Each Channel has the exact banner/image/and sound as if being run directly from the disc channel. This makes starting the game / choosing the next game to play much faster than ever before.

Wow! that's really cool.
Does that use up a lot of channel memory though?
Also, how do you do it?

Average block size for a game channel is 5.

The biggest channel I have installed is Mario Kart Wii, which takes up 7 blocks.
That's not bad.
I have about 750 Blocks free for channels, so I should be able to fit enough for all the games I want there.

Now how do I actually make the channels?

First of all, IOS 222 is needed. Obtain a copy here:

http://www.tehskeen.com/viewarticle.php?articleid=3671

----

This is my method for obtaining the Banners from Games (fastest method for me):

Open up the .ISO with WiiScrubber.

Go to the Data Partition.

Scroll down until you see "opening.bnr"

Right click and hit "Save/Extract"

Rename that file to: 00000000.app (This contains the Banner/Icon/Sound files)

---

Now for getting the channel to launch the specific game, I have quoted WiiCrazy:

Here is the dol : http://www.tepetaklak.com/data/yal-channel.rar

Find the string RCPP18 in the dol and change with your disc id...

You are supposed to use any Hex Editor and find the text "RCPP18"

Then replace that with the game ID of your .ISO

Mario Kart Wii (NTSC-U) = RMCE01

So if you wanted a Mario Kart Wii Channel, you would replace RCPP18 with RMCE01.

-----

Obtain a wad file you would like to use as the base.

Unpack the wad, replace the 00000000.app with the one from the ISO.

Rename the .dol to 00000001.app and replace it.

Repack the wad.

I then used the app: "NEW VC INJECTOR" to give the channel a title ID corresponding to the game.

NEW VC INJECTOR: http://www.mediafire.com/?mtixbylxdye

For Mario Kart Wii, I gave it a title ID of: MKWI

-----

You may use Wadder if you would like as it may be easier but I like doing things manually.

But this is exactly what I do to make channels that launches games stored on a USB drive.

Loading games from the USB drive seems slower than loading them from 6x disc to me. Maybe it's because I'm using a 5400rpm harddrive, but that shouldn't really matter because the 5400rpm hard drive on the 360 makes games load faster than the 12x DVD drive.

What do you need IOS 222 for? What does it do? The post there says The archive contains a new version of his CIOS usb2 installer which allows you to use USB v2.0 devices in your Nintendo Wii and also includes a tool for formatting hard drives in the new WBFS format.
But I already have USB Loader 1.1 fully working, so do I need this?

That all makes sense to me.

Okay, that all sounds good. I have a hex editor, so I should be able to do that.
Only problem is that I don't know how to get the game ID of my ISO.
USB Loader shows a game ID, but it's only 4 letters, there aren't the 2 numbers after it.
Edit: Ah, I found that Brick Blocker can tell me the whole ID if I put together the consol-ID, Game Code, Country Code and Maker Code.

Any wad will do?
How do I unpack and repack the wad? I guess there's a program for that?

I don't know how to use Wadder, but if I did, what parts of this would it be able to do for me instead of doing it manually?

IOS 222 is needed as it is required for launching the games. The channels dont use IOS 249. They specifically use IOS 222.

Nah, HD Loader is too good to not use. Except for the lack of Brawl +

Except there is more risk to having someone delete all of your games on your harddrive, whether by accident or on purpose, by pressing the Minus button on the Wiimote than there is launching the games through their own channels.
