Gaming Will they still be making games for the DS when the 3DS comes out?

I'm just wondering, will the 3DS kill production of future DS games?

I know that the 3DS will be able to play DS games.

Yes.

Until Nintendo decides to discontinue the DS(i) itself, the games should stay in production.

Even today ps2 games are still being made. Sony hasn't discontinued the ps2.

The DS will continue to have games produced for it more than likely until demand ceases. As it stands, there are still titles lined up for pre and post 3DS release, and at least a handful of localizations have been promised for later in the year and onward.

There are still plenty of games to come, so don't worry about your DS biting the dust too soon. It should be good for new releases for a long while yet.

put it this way it took 2 years after the release of the original Nintendo DS for the GBA die off.

The ds will live on, but not for that long. You will see the number of games die down, at downhill speed.
