Turns out the games overworld won't be in stereoscopic 3d. As in, the 3d slider will do nothing. I might not be able to program outside of BASIC, but they're not really pulling off MH3U graphics.

Compared to

MH3U_11-15.jpg

(note monster hunter runs at 60 fps in some places with 3d on)

The only reason they gave was that "It slowed down considerably" when stereoscopic 3d was turned on. Sounds less like hardware problems and more like rushed development.

Implying Pokemon developers were ever good with graphics.

Wait for all the fans to crawl in and say this is an "art design choice" rather than sheer inability or laziness of the developers just like they have when the question "why aren't Pokemon 3D on the DS?" was raised.

For a Pokemon game, this looks great and there's nothing to complain about. In fact, I think this would turn quite a few heads... if it was on the PSP, circa 2005. ;O;

i Have to agree. They should have done better graphically. I think they mainly focused more on that via battle system which is probably why its the only thing capable of using 3D anyway.

Lazy indeed.

Game Freak is really lazy when it comes to visuals. I don't know if they developed Pokemon Stadium but those old games have much better battle animation than these. Anyways, they'll never lose; cheap development plus lots of sales is definitely a win.

I can see it:
Pokemon Z, now in 3D.
Improved Battle System,
Z Legendary from XYZ trio on the cover.
Of, course, for the price of a full retail game.

I do not think there will be a patch nor do I think the difference in graphics or whatever is a big deal.

Because Pokemon games have always been the example of perfect graphics?
Honestly the game looks amazing for a pokemon game, it really looks like Game Freak took their time working on this engine and those graphics. Compared to R/S/E/FR/LG which all used the same engine, at least they tried this time to change things up.

Also if you asking if someone could patch Pokemon X&Y to use the same engine as Monster Hunter, then the answer is no and will always be no. You can't move an engine from one game to another and just have it work like poof. Not to mention lacking the source codes to either of the games and the fact that 3DS roms are not hacked nor does anyone know when they will be hackable.

No 3D? WTF Nintendo
This is the 3DS, for christ sake.
Well, I guess now we know why the 2DS releases on the same day as Pokemon X/Y.

Honestly for a console that's been touting it's 3D features all along, I never expected them to make a game that doesn't support 3D. This is bullshit.
3D in battles? Who cares.

The CGI style is different from that of Pokémon Stadium and Pokémon Battle Revolution, because those games were supposed to emulate "realism within fantasy". Since the handheld Pokémon series is supposed to be accessible to everyone, battles were made "cuter".
SourceWhile yes, better graphics would be nice, I don't see it as essential. I've never enjoyed a game just because it looks good. Looks may have attracted me to the game, but the actual enjoyment itself is mostly gameplay.

Also: no, no one is going to "patch" Pokemon X/Y to add in 3D effects.

Except there is 3D, and it isn't a game that doesn't support 3D.

now they found out a way to release 2 more versions of the same game(s) over again at full retail price
X^2 and Y^2 will be out within a year

It basically doesn't support it. Battles are only a small part of the game.
Also, I disagree. If and when CFW happens, someone will add in 3D support even for DS games.

To be fair the difference between BW and BW2 is much larger than the difference between, say, Diamond/Pearl and Platinum.

It basically doesn't support it. Battles are only a small part of the game.

Which will drop the framerate like crazy so no one will use it.

@OP: Man, at least use unstretched screenshots. Something like this already looks a lot better:
