Hardware Wiimote not connecting

Since a day now my wiimote just stopped connecting to the wii.
the wii just goes on, my wiimote searches, and nothing. i tried the red buttons on both.
wii button for 15 seconds, wiimote for 15 seconds, then at the same time...?

take the batteries out wait 10 mins put them back and try again
