Hello and quick one:

From what cIOS should wiiflow be loaded and why does it matter?

Thanks!

P.S.: Let me add another question, while we are at it:

What is the syntax of the meta.xml argument to specify the folder in which the wiiflow dol resides?

The reason I want it is because I have a bunch of game shortcut channels created with Crap, that I like to use. However, with the recent wiiflow versions the forwarder that Crap uses no longer works. Since I would like to continue using those channels, I keep an old copy of wiiflow around to be able to launch them from the shortcuts. If there is an alternative to Crap (aka WiiGSC) to create shortcuts, that would be good to know too.

If you installed the cIOS reccomended for WiiFlow from the wiki page then 249 cause it will be base 56 which is generally most compatible/fastest and works with nand emu etc.

As far as I know you cannot specify which folder to load wiiflow from from crap channels. I'm sure somone else can confirm as I don't use them personally but I'm guessing they no longer work with current Revs due to the fact it is now dolz compressed and maybe Crap loader is not up to date to load dolz compressed apps.

Thanks, skater4599.

To clarify, though:

- cIOS question: I have the wiiflow recommended cIOS's but what I would like to know is on what IOS should wiiflow start when it is loaded, not what cIOS should be available for this game, as wiiflow does this automatically. I think the official forwarder channels use IOS 58 but wanted to confirm.

- Crap question: I know we can't specify the wiiflow path on Crap so I'm keeping and old version of wiiflow on the \\apps\wifflow folder for now. What I'm trying to do is use the latest version of Wiiflow on a differet wiiflow, say \\apps\wiiflow_r415, so I need specify this path in the wiiflow meta.xml, but I don't know the exact syntax. The official wiiflow forwarder channels support meta.xml arguments.

WiiFlow Defaults to IOS249, the forwarder from FIX94 uses IOS58 to load wiiflows .dol. Then WiiFlow during loading reloads to ios249 to run. Then during launch of the game wiiflow reloads IOS one more time to match the game as you mentioned.

As far as crap questions, It kind of sounds like you just need a forwarder for your up to date wiiflow to be in a different folder. I don't think you can change the path crap looks for WiiFlow in (not 100% sure on that). But what you could do is leave the older version of wiiflow in \\apps\wiiflow\boot.dol and put new wiiflow in \\apps\wiiflow-new\boot.dol and replace the .dol in your wiiflow channel with the new forwarder to point to \\apps\wiiflow-new\boot.dol and that way both will work for you. Or am I misunderstanding what you are asking for?

- about cIOS: OK. I got it now. My inexperience showed through on this one.

- about Crap: I am trying to do exactly what you described. In fact, that is how I'm doing it now. I created a simple forwarder with CustomiizeMii to point to \apps\wiiflow_r415 but it shows an ugly prompt screen while loading, so I'm trying to eliminate that. I don't know how to compile forwarder dol's to change the location where it will look for the wiiflow dol but I do know that the official forwarder based on FIX94's forwarder code, supports meta.xml arguments and I'm assuming there is an argument to change the wiiflow dol path.
Is this not correct?
If it is, I would like to know the syntax.
I'm guessing something like this, but I don't know (I'll try tonight when I get home):

path=\apps\wiiflow_r415

Never mind.
I just realized what I was saying there did not make sense.

Wiiflow + d2x + nand emulation + VC Games = does not work for anyone or just for some?

I've been trying to find information about this and it's very scattered. Some say it's d2x, but others say they have the virtual console games working fine with it.
For me, Paper Mario, Majora's Mask and Smash Bros., all hang at the classic controller screen. The only other one I've tried is is Super Mario 64 and it works fine.
I have the same issue with Mighty Channels.

I followed the instructions in the wiiflow wiki, grabbed the d2x installer linked there and installed all the recommended bases on the recommended slots.
All WiiWare games I've tried work fine from the emulated nand, though wifi does not, but this is a known issue.

Has anybody here gotten those virtual console games to work with wiiflow's emulated nand?

Yep that's a cios issue and we just don't know why. The games which doesn't work contain compressed roms, that's most likely the problem. If you use mighty channels and cios249 r17 it works fine for some reason.

Thanks. At least I know it is indeed a common issue.
I would use Mighty Channels but would rather not mess up with the d2x cIOS I installed per the wiiflow wiki's instructions.

If I install rev17 to say, slot 240, and point the Mighty Channels meta.xml to that cIOS, would that work or does it requires slot 249, specifically?
I was just about to do that but realized that the r17 installer only installs to slot 249, which I prefer not to do.
I'll just sit back and wait for a future update of d2x to fix the issue.

I cant load wiiflow from any forwarder available from official wiiflow site. already install wiiflow 417 and working perfectly loaded from hbc. i install using waninkoko wad manager 1.7 using ios 249. when i want to install other forwarder, i uninstall installed forwarder first.
when i run forwarder, i get black screen and have to restart my wii.

whats wrong? am i the only one having this problem?

Thanks, skater4599.

i've been trying to get both apps to work on wiiflow an for neek2o.(crapp an wii gsc) with the new revs. they don't work an you can't make the work. (belive me i've tried many diffent thing to get them to work). stick with rev 355. that was the last wiiflow they worked with. i use gx for nand playing. if i'm not loading into neek2o.

using 415 dol with orchid theme and there is a scratch sound every few seconds

1. old themes dont work with 415
2. install the cios wad pack on the wiki and install every wad and mw3 will work just fine
3. removed cause they need updating to work with latest dols

How i can update the wiiflow. I have the Wiiflow 2.2 in my hdd, but i want update. I already update the Wii with lastest ios and cios, now i want update wiiflow. I see in the website the r417.dol, how i change in the folder in my hdd??
I always use wiiflow, but i read on the web the USBLoader CFG, who is the best option?

Thanks

Use wiiflow :P You need to replace the apps/wiiflow/boot.dol with the r417 dol. DOn't forget to update forwarder and cios. Also delete the wiiflow/settings wiiflow/cache folder and apps/wiiiflow/wiiflow.ini.

I believe you. The shortcuts can't be made to work unless a compatible forwarder is compiled so we'll have to wait. I posted on WiiCrazy's site but he hasn't answered. I think he is away from the hobby.

Simply install the wad file from wiiflowiki.com
http://www.wiiflowiki.com/Wiiflow/forwarders
Just delete the old one first via normal Wii channel removal options.

If you will be using wiiflow as your loader, the best way to be sure is to follow exactly the main instructions in the main page of the wiiflow wiki.
This will have installing the d2x cIOS's with all the recommended bases on slots 245 through 251, overwriting anything you already have in those slots.
You can always run syscheck gx (homebrew wiki) to get a report of what is in each slot.

Buena suerte.
