Hacking Wii won't play burned backups

I softmod'd 2 wiis using the method found in Modify any Wii 4.2 & below, aka the simplistic mod and one of them is working as it should but the other will not play burned backup discs. The discs work fine in the other wii and both have no problems running them off a USB drive.

I've read that some wiis will simply not play burned discs, no matter what you do but I can't find the info that would let me know if my console is one of these. I've seen the wii database sites but not sure what I'm looking for exactly.

When I launch the discs with Neogamma I get various disc read errors.

Both wiis were upgraded to 4.2 before ever being mod'd.

if 1 is a newer wii it could possibly have a D3-2 dvd drive which apparently has issues loading backup disks with or without a modchip

Thanks, tehskeen isn't working for me right now but I will check that out.

The wii is newer than I thought - its only 3 months old. So that is probably it.
