People don't know for a fact it will how powerful the hardware will be. If it was super powerful, the consoles will sell a a loss and be prohibitively overpriced, like the PS3.

Sorry, I'm incapable of making such a promise, remember? Just because the Wii U is underpowered doesn't mean it will fail, there is no proof of that. Oh, and the Genesis/Megadrive had a faster CPU than the Snes.

I never said that WiiU will fail,
I said that everything points for PS Orbis and Durango been stronger than WiiU.

They will be released later, and WiiU is underpowered,
simple as that.

But remember, this is an analysis, not a fact ;)

i think he is trying to point out that everyone throw shit to nintendo because is nintendo and saying that sony and microsoft will instawin in power because they are sony and microsoft.
i see it that way, some people start to whine "nintendo this and nintendo that" but if sony or microsoft do something similar they say "sony is awesome for doing that" of "microsoft did the best thing ever".

anyway the wii u doesnt need a stronger cpu because have a powerfull gpu(even can help the cpu) and that is whats moving the games nowdays, i can with my laptop run games at full or almost full only because i have a good gpu(2 gpus actually), but if i start emulating(which need a strong cpu) even if i keep the graphics at minimum the speed isnt good.

Exactly, it's a double-standard. If Nintendo has an underpowered console, people bitch about it, and yet, no one did that when the PS2 was launched back in 2000, but no one seemed to care; it was the weakest of the sixth generation consoles. No one has confirmed the hardware specifications of the next Sony and Microsoft console. Remember, opinions =/= facts or truth.

Doesn't mean they're going to be cheap, either.

Nintendo released HD console, people start a bitch-fest

Sony and Microsoft release an HD console, people flock over them like it's the best thing since sliced bread.

The Wii U is Nintendo's first HD console.

I know that, I know that, but people are bitching about something Nintendo isn't doing "right", like poorly ported games*, bad online infrastructure and slow updates.

*The hardware is only a small part to blame for performance issues. It's new hardware and developers have to get acclimated to it. But VMM is being a pillock about how the Wii U is vastly inferior while shooting out claims from his a** how the next consoles will be infinitely more powerful. Somewhat? Maybe, but exponentially? Not a chance in hell, at least not without making it prohibitively expensive.

Nothing will ever satisfy implacable sods.

Advice? Give zero shits. No shits shall be given. No fucks either. If anybody ever asks you a question, hold up your hands in a zero sign and tell them that's how many fucks you give. Don't do that for shits though, people might get the wrong idea.

First ports are always crappy, anybody that doesn't know this is a noob.

You advice is something I need to apply, I'm only feeding the trolls and it's getting out of hand. It's all my f***ing fault.

Well, Nintendo until Wii was releasing very high-end consoles.

SNES had a better GPU and soundboard than Genesis.
N64 had a 64 bit processor, different from PS1 and Saturn that had a 32-bit CPU.
GC was surely more powerful than PS2.

But with the commercial failures of N64 and GC Nintendo started using a different strattegy,
and it's working pretty fine.

But; people want more than that, people want a high-end Nintendo console,
and WiiU performance on multiplatform games is worse than a 7 year-old console in some games,
which shows it will not be as powerful as PS Orbis and Durango.

And that's why everyone is bitching about WiiU specs.
One thing to add; those were ported VERY quickly and likely NOT polished and optimized for the Wii U. From what I've seen, raw power does not always translate. MANY loved 360 over PSP. MANY who owned both did not mind paying for live as THEY said it ran better than PSNetwork.

Also, people I talked with who owned both PS3 and 360 said games looked better (TO THEM) and ran better (not to mention LOADED more quickly) on 360. This being said, Wii U MAY be harder to develop for this cycle. Remains to be seen. Comparing games quickly ported is not fair. Wii U desperate to have some launch titles. Those game swere LONG developed and polished for other systems. For Wii U, pretty much, "Okay, it runs, ship it out." Others have pointed this out, nothing I am claiming. Judge the Wii U when Zelda comes out (any Zelda), and other Mario games, see how those sell. THEY ALWAYS SELL.

I am concerned about what DEVELOPED and POLISHED games will look/play like. We have not TRULY seen this yet if we are being honest. Throw an Xbox game on a 360 to launch and judge 360 by that? NOT saying Wii U is that much more powerful, BUT seriously, that is a good analogy. I am also interested in what game updates will be like (have not looked into much to be honest). What can "DLC" do, or other game updates. Curious if graphics could be optimized more with this. Followed the back and forth and just had to toss my nickel in;-) I am somebody who WANTS high end Nintendo system. N64 was my favorite of all time and I've owned them all (except hand helds after Game Boy). Friends with PSP said, "Sure, it is more powerful but games look like cartoons and on PSP games are more realistic and for adults." Encouraging that those games were PORTED by those developers, but seriously lets see what TRULY polished games can look like.

Of course we can't judge a console by rushed ports.
WiiU is superior to PS3 and X360, but not much, and probably will be very outdated compared to Durango and Orbis,
the same way Wii was to PS3 and X360.

Day 20 we probably will know Orbis specs, then we can have a clear comparisson

we aren't gonna see any real defining differences until at least April/May (when they have had PLENTY of time to play with the coding for the console), so it might be best to hold all console slamming over ports until then

Need for Speed: Most Wanted U (March) is the first major game that has shown significant improvements over the PS3/360 versions. It has better textures (from the PC version), an improved framerate, improved lighting as well as increased draw distance.

If I had to make a guess as to why the other ports suffered in their transition to the Wii U, I would blame the lack of documentation of the hardware. Apparently documentation for the GPU was lacking at launch leaving third-parties having to figure out the capabilities of the system on their own. That combined with the time constraints is likely the reason for the shoddy ports.

If I had to draw a comparison, this is a bit similar to the PS3's early years where ports from the 360 suffered a lot thanks to developers not really understanding their way around the Cell.

Exactly, it's a matter of developers acclimatizing to the hardware and proper documentation. The very idea that the Wii U is inferior to the last gen is laughable. The ports were by-in-large, rushed to meet Nintendo's deadline. Could they have been better? Sure, they could have, but they weren't, and I wish those wieners on IGN, Kotaku, gamespot, etc would shut the hell up about the Wii U being crap already. It's already showing signs of being more successful than the Gamecube, is it not?

Well to be brutally honest, it's currently tracking lower than the Gamecube sales-wise. But that has more to do with the game library and market changes than any "doom" for the platform.

Since when the fuck did millions upon millions upon millions of consoles = failure???

That's like the PSP and people saying it failed. Pretty sure 70 million is NOT a failure.
It's great to see Frozenbyte developer answering on forums and giving informations on future patches.
I wish all developers would be this concerned about their users and explain what their patches are doing (Nintendo... "overall improvement/minor adjustment/behind the scene" doesn't mean a thing. did you fix freezes in a specific menu? just say it clearly).

Is there a game update's changelog database for all games? it would be great. (maybe gametdb can have it if no official website exists?)

I'm just glad that Criterion no less, actually took their time to make Need For Speed look gorgeous and didn't dumb it down or anything. I wish more developers took their time like they did instead of just rush a shitty port that's inferior.

Criterion (when they are in fact the ones working on their game) are not known for being slouches..... I still despise Burnout Legends from the DS because they let somebody else work on their baby and it looked/played/sounded/just was all around horrible when the system could actually do more than what was done. but when THEY work on their games, they put out the absolute best quality they can for the hardware
