Well the 30c3 conference sure was an interesting watch. It's fun to learn a bit more about how these things work. I actually agree with f0f's sentiments about interest in Wii U homebrew though. Not enough developer interest = no good homebrew. Plus the Wii U isn't as popular as the Wii was and probably will never be. It'd be hard to match it. Maybe 3DS hacking has more potential and interest. I wanna see unsigned code running on the 3DS in 3DS mode.

When coming up with "Ways to boost ego/self esteem", I'm pretty sure most people wouldn't consider flying halfway around the world on the day after xmas and getting up and speaking in front of a room full of large german men to be a viable option. Especially so if they got sued by a multi-national corporation after the last attempt (which would have been a huge commercial success for them; lawyers are cheap, right?).

If piracy were inherently impossible or very difficult (e.g. if we could re-enable Wii U hardware from vWii mode, but not the Wii U keys) then we would've released the method ages ago, period. There would have been no reason not to (regardless of whether people actually ended up interested in homebrew or not).

There's no point in holding back homebrew because we think homebrew may not succeed. The only thing tipping the scale towards "do not release" is piracy. Without piracy, it doesn't matter how vacuous the prospect of homebrew is; there'd be no reason not to try and see.

Someone should make a Wii U Media Server app that will let you stream ANY video format that your PC can decode over wi-fi, and send it to the wireless controller as a wifi-screen. MKV files come to mind, since they are the best container format and open-source.

Actually, making a Wii U port of WiiMC that supports at least 720p video without lag would be sweet, even if it runs in vWii mode. THAT would be impressive.

Um, impossible at the time for the people who don't work for Nintendo. You do realize that since nintendo created the system they have FULL documentation on it and also have the means to create new drivers that allow for things like sending video to the gamepad and such
