I recently installed cIOSx rev 19 on my 4.2U Wii. At first there were no noticeable problems, but when I later inserted a disc and tried to run it through the Wii disc channel it would not run without first "updating". I uninstalled everything, but I would still like to be able to use cIOSx, so I was wondering:

Is this a known problem?

Is this somehow the result of using base IOS 57?

And most importantly, is there any way to prevent it?

Any help would be appreciated.

Try not to run disc updates. Run the game through a loader such as Neogamma, or if you really want to load it through the Disc Channel, use StartPatch to block them.

But really do disc channel/online updates hurt anything? Isn't our cios a higher version so the update won't stub it? The only thing that's risky is the initial update from 4.1 to 4.2 as that will delete cios249.

Depends on the disc...If the disc has a cIOS249 stub then it WILL delete cIOS249. However, it will not delete cIOS250 because that has a high version number. Remember, the cIOS249 version number is the same as the cIOS rev, so rev17 is v17. 250 always has v65535.

I didn't actually run the update.
QUOTERun the game through gecko OS and it'll install just the IOS the game needs
After that it won't ask for updates anymore
That would be nice. So installing the cIOS can cause some of these IOS to be deleted?

Huh. I don't know why it wouldn't be there since it had been played many times before.

The game, by the way, is Wii Fit. Does anyone know what IOS that uses? I'd like to see what DOP-Mii says about it.

Update: As it turns out, it had nothing to do with the cIOS. It was the cMIOS all along. The lower version number was what was triggering the update request. So, insteading of spending 15 minutes using a BootMii NAND restore and un-installing the stubs, I could have spent 5 seconds dopping the MIOS >.>
