Don't get too exited on the sd 'feature'. It simply copies vc/wiiware to the nand and launches it.
That will affect the flash strain considirably.

IOS16 can't be installed anymore.

Anyone already tried to install a cIOS with the installer instead of installing through a wad ?

Hopefully waninkoko could find a way to load backups form SD cards, since he could theoretically do it with the wii's nand it shouldn't be to hard to implement.

I though that SD used NAND like a buffer, copying info momentally, then it was erased

Do you people think Nintendo wouldn't have taken EXTRA steps to stop pirating through SD cards after the TP hack.

yes, it does NOT stay on the NAND afterwards, but it still needs enough free space to load the channel

It's still an improvement on the old system and there really is little nintendo could do to allow for loading from SD without opening itself up to new exploits. Nintendo isn't handling things the best, but it's not a stupid company.

its not gone, but it is a STUB IOS now meaning its useless same goes to many older IOS's Over half are now stubs

Wait, that's interesting, I have a collection of about 30 IOS -.-u.

well i'm pretty sure you can't remove ios's in 4.0 but here is a list of Stub\Dicked ios's on the 4.0 info got from wiidev

IOS4 v65280
ios10 v768
IOS11 v256
IOS16 v512
IOS20 v256
IOS30 v2816
IOS40 v3072
IOS50 v51280
IOS51 v4864

meaning these ios's are useless no longer being used on 4.0 Its Nintendo's way of saving space sense they can't just remove a IOS from a Update, they copy over it with a Really Small IOS like 168kb meaning the IOS is no longer being used\ Not Usable

Why do you ask? You know that erasing IOS doesn't increase the number of free blocks?

Oh I didn't realise that. Still, the strain on the nand remains. Writing and deleting are 2 flash operations.

ok so we know homebrew channel is still alive, but do every application in it work ?

and for those who're on fear rampage this is what marcan answered on hackmii :

English: If you want to use the Wii Shop or the new features, and have HBC and DVDX, then updating safe.

New exploits exist and are on the way.

IOS16 is a lame trick that pirates used to pirate VC/Warez on 3.4, by pirating IOS16 itself.

I'm with you on this. I am not prepared to lose cIOSCORP, wad installion & others just for the sake of being able to store more Wiiware and Virtual Console games. I can play any VC game I want and many more through emulators and there are only a handful of decent Wiiware titles anyway. I am quite prepared to install/uninstall the Wiiware as and when I want it rather than losing the things you mentioned.

Lets be honest, is there even 32gb worth of WW and VC, let alone 32gb of good WW and VC?
