A homebrew port of ZUN's 2003 bullet hell danmaku Touhou Koumakyou: Embodiment of Scarlet Devil for the Nintendo Wii.

This project is built on Gensokyo Club's portable decompilation of EoSD, so please send support to them and their future projects.

1. INSTALLATION

Release is HERE!
The installation is pretty straightforward. All you have to do is install the boot.dol, alongside the icon and meta.xml on your sd:/apps/ folder,
and then provide your own game assets (JAPANESE .DAT v1.02h FILES ONLY, english patches or others are not supported.) into sd:/apps/th06 and sd:/apps/th06/bgm.

2. LAUNCHING

Just like you'd launch any other homebrew app, you can do it from either a forwarder .wad or straight from the homebrew channel.

3. CONTROLS

Sideways Wiimote:
DPAD -> Menu movement, In-game movement
2 -> Shoot/Interact
1 -> Focus/Back
+ -> Open menu in-game / Menu button
A -> Bomb/Spell
Home -> Hold to go back to homebrew channel.

Gamecube Controller:
Analog Stick + DPAD -> Menu movement, In-game movement
A -> Shoot/Interact
B -> Bomb/Spell
X -> Skip Dialogue
R Trigger -> Focus/Back
L Trigger -> Shoot/Interact
Z Trigger -> Skip Dialogue
Start -> Open menu in-game / Menu button

Thank you very much.
I see that the port only works with the Wii Remote; is it compatible with the GameCube controller, or is GameCube controller support expected?
I also noticed something related to *TH08* in your repository. Is that also a project being ported to the Wii? I was wondering if it might be possible to create a Wii port of *Senjin Aleste*. Best regards, and thanks again.

things related to TH08 are left-overs from the touhou decompilation used for this recomp, as they are also working on a touhou 8 imperishable night decompilation. most likely re-used logic
as for gamecube controller, i am not sure myself as i dont own one, but i will see what i can do to add support for them!

I mention the GameCube controller compatibility because I'm building two Wii arcade cabinets, and I'd love to be able to play this port using an arcade stick setup

I'll post a link in this forum when I upload the video of my horizontal and vertical versions of WiiFlow for Wii-based arcade cabinets, along with several "tricks" for building them.
Thanks a lot for adding GameCube controller support!!!

I tested the new release directly—without trying the original port release first—and GameCube controller compatibility works perfectly. Many thanks!
However, when I accessed the in-game menu to check for video settings, the options did appear, but upon returning to the main menu, the game froze, leaving me with no choice but to reset the Wii. This happens right when pressing the "Quit" button, regardless of whether I actually changed any settings.

Also, I notice the action stutters significantly whenever a bomb is thrown. Is that how the original game behaves? (1sec+-)

Another issue is that during character dialogue sequences, the game stutters and the frame rate drops sharply at times. Is this normal? (1 sec +-)

I saw a video of the PC version being played in "Tate" mode. From what I've gathered, the game doesn't officially support this screen orientation setting, but there is a simple configuration "trick" that allows it to run in Tate mode.
Touhou 6 (Embodiment of Scarlet Devil) does not feature a native vertical screen or Tate mode option in its settings, but you can enable it using external community tools like the THRotator mod. [1, 2]

How to Play Touhou 6 in Tate Mode
    • Extract the downloaded DLL and INI files into your Touhou 6 game folder.
    • Rename the configuration file to throt.ini.
    • Open throt.ini in a text editor and change the first line to match your specific Touhou 6 executable filename (such as your English-patched touhou.exe or th06.exe).
    • Rotate your physical PC monitor or TV orientation vertically in your operating system display settings.
    • Launch the game and press Alt+Left or Alt+Right to toggle the orientation into vertical Tate mode. [1]
(Note: Menu screens will appear letterboxed initially, but the gameplay layout will auto-adjust once a stage begins). [1]

These are details that could further improve the game and the playing experience, but as a shoot-'em-up fan, I want to thank you for the work involved in porting the game to the Wii. Thank you very much.
