    Hi All,

Ok, I have had this Nintendo Wii since 2008, no problems with it whatsoever. Shortly after owning it I then installed a wiikey2 chip which worked great and again without any problems. About 6 months ago I decided to update to firmware 4.3E and all games played, the Wii worked perfectly fine. About a month ago, the dvd drive started making horrendous noises and wouldn't load discs, it would just spit them back out. One day, I was trying to see what the problem was with the Wii and when I turned it on, I noticed the Wii would not go past the health and safety screen and not give me the option of pressing "A".

Since then, I have replaced the dvd drive which now sounds a lot better and loads discs, I have also replaced the bluetooth chip module as I read on some forums this may be the cause. Still stuck at the health and safety screen.

So I am asking for help please, I didn't do any soft mods to the Wii as in Homebrew or anything else just the hard mod wiikey2. Is there any hope in fixing this please? Where do I actually start?

I don't have a NAND backup, is it possible to backup the NAND now? And what steps do I need to take to get my Wii up and running again please if possible. I have searched and read multiple forums, looked at loads of videos and they all mention different things, bootmii, priiloader, savemiifrii etc etc, it is so confusing so if someone can suggest the most up to date and easiest method that would be great please.

I have also thought about purchasing a second hand Wii as a replacement from eBay but I have so many saved games on my current Wii, is there a way I can backup all my saved games from this Wii and transfer it over to a replacement?

Im sry but without bootmii or priiloader it's hard to fix your Wii
Your Wii have GC ports? With a controller you can try savemiifrii.

You mean having bootmii or priiloader actually installed before this happened?

Yeah, it has Gamecube ports, ok I can get hold of a GC if need be. Will this work? Do you have a guide I can follow and try please?

    Thank you

    Hi, Can anyone help please??

I managed to use the Gamecube controller trick to get into the recovery menu/mode. My version says 4.3(EUR)

What software or autoboot disc do I need please? As mentioned I have the Wiikey2 chip installed.

Anybody, please help me to get further, from what I understand, once you get to the RM and it shows the version, you can then use a recovery autoboot disc?

    Hello.:)

You can maybe use any Game that was released after Version 4.3x was released (Juni 2010 v1/September 2010 v2 or November 2012 v3)

You can also maybe search for the DiscUpdate Disc or System Menu Update Disc Image(s) and try this.

    Good Luck.:)

    Ok....

I tried using a newer game but it just stays on a black screen. Still not fixed.

Has anyone got any other solutions I can try please? Can I use Multi Mod Manager?

Do you know if your IOS80 is trucha enabled? In that case you should be able to run autobooting (titleID starting with 0) custom discs

I don't know much about actually making homebrew discs, but yeah the general plan would be to run something to address the problem - one we don't know about; if you had a nand backup and bootmii/ios installed you could create a disc with pretty much anything modified to use IOS254 to launch it and restore, but depending on what exactly is in that backup may even be counterproductive; or you could make a disc with a wad manager (declaring it wants to use a known good CIOS, while you're there) and... try removing all channels (in case it's a bannerbrick) or reinstalling a known clean copy of the wii menu and [a trucha-enabled] known matching IOS, I wild-ass-guess

Hi, Thanks for the reply. Wow, this is getting a bit complicated now! :-)

Not sure if my IOS80 is trucha enabled, I just tried inserting a copied game disc when the 4.3(EUR) showed up using the d-pad trick on the gamecube controller and it also went to just a black screen, so does that mean it is autobooting discs?

Ok, how do I make a disc with a wad manager please? I didn't have any channels installed not even the homebrew channel so not sure what kind of brick I have.

"reinstalling a known clean copy of the wii menu and [a trucha-enabled] known matching IOS" Again, note sure how to acheive this...

    Ok, update....

I didn't realise you had to configure the drivekey chip to "autoboot" which I configured on another working wii.

I did the trick with the GC controller and when it displayed 4.3(EUR) I inserted an original Angry birds star wars disc and to my surprise it booted the game and I was able to play no problem but it didn't update or fix anything. I also tried pressing home on the remote but it just went to a black screen. I then tried the same with a backup game, Zelda Twilight princess and that worked as well.

I then tried the "Universal Unbrick disc V2 and V4 but it did not boot up as it never went past the 4.3(EUR) bit. I feel like I am getting closer to fixing this.....

So come on guys, please? I really need some help from here on out. I have read multiple forums, websites about this and about maybe using a stacksmash or twilight hack but just need a good guide to follow this procedure or if anyone has a better solution from this point on please let me know

    Thank you

You might be able to use bluebomb. All the other exploits need access to wii menu.

Ok thank you for that suggestion...

However, I came across this guide and at the top is says "For the original Wii, we do not recommend using BlueBomb if you intend to install the Homebrew Channel and BootMii, as there are more convenient exploits available."

Once this nightmare is over, I am planning to install the HB channel and backup my NAND, and also have bootmii and priiloader on there in case this ever happens again!

Great! I actually did not know about that feature, but it solves having to patch titleIDs before burning to make individual discs autobootable (won't help with booting custom discs if you don't have trucha-enabled IOSes, though)

You probably already have a fully updated system (or at least more updated than what's on the disc)

If you mean immediately after pressing home that's weird, since that thing is in fact baked into individual games
If you mean after selecting wii menu... well, it pretty much just runs it normally (apart from "tricks" with memory, such as the one officially used to skip health&safety or the way homebrews can exit to the HBC, Wii programs - of which only one is running at any given time - can't really communicate with each other)

I don't know about those in particular, but what I said still holds - any custom disc will be rejected by a non-trucha-enabled Wii Menu IOS

Do indeed give Bluebomb or Smash Stack a try (if you can run the hackmii installer, after installing the HBC select exit and it will open)

If I'm correct, Smash Stack requires you to put a hacked savegame onto your Wii. Which you cannot do right now.

You'll need to use Bluebomb. This requires a Linux PC with Bluetooth -- but a persistence USB or a Raspberry Pi should work. Here is a guide: https://wii.guide/bluebomb

    Ok....

So i'm getting a bit further with this now, I managed to get a hold of SSBB (PAL version) and used Smash Stack (again PAL version) and voila, i'm now at this screen. So do I install both the "homebrew channel" and "Bootmii". And then what do I do after this please. Thank you

    Thank you.:)

    This is your actual Step:
    https://wii.guide/hbc

After that you have many "Ways" to continue.

But the first Thing is doing a NAND Backup please !!

    Thank you.:)
