I got a Wii from a yard sale. It is in pretty poor shape cosmetically, but when I plug it in and turn it on I get a black screen.

I hit the power button and I see a flash of a green and red line across the screen anem d then it just goes black.

I knownothing about the system as far as if any mods or anything has been done to it.

I know it has been opened, because most of the screwsare missing, all of the little white covers are missing and 1 of the WiFi cables had been broken.

I'm not sure if it has been hardware modded, I don't have any familarity with that, I've only done soft modding so I'm nit sure what to look for to see if it has been hardware modded.

I pretty sure there is no Pre-loader becasue when I hold the reset button nothing comes up.

I've read that most of the times ablackscreenor no video is because the Blutooth module went bad or got fried.

I bought a new one and replaced it and still the same results.

Any suugestions on what to try next?

It's not a big deal.

I paid $5 for a whole box of stuff and this was in it, just thought I could do something with it.

So it's bricked? Too bad.

With a voided warranty I don't think they will replace it. Your best bet is to probably get a used Wii somewhere else if you really want one. You could always use the one you currently have for parts later down the road if you gain the technical knowledge to repair Wii's or what not.

What a waste of 5 bucks!

The $5 wasn't wasted.

I got a perfectly good cordless drill, a calculator, an old Ipod and a bunch of other stuffall ofwhich worked.

Plus I got to have this great conversation with all of you.

Besides even if I use th eWii for parts, that's the $5 right there.

It is probably bricked, but it is possible the video setting is at 480p and not 480i. 480p is only playable on HDTVs.

It is connected to an HDTV with component cables.

It does the same as without it.

What should it do?

I think it will only do something if it is installed as boot2 which I don't think it is even on this system and my other system that I have it installed on will only allow me to install it as an iso.
