Gaming wii crashed, wont boot up (asks to connect controller)

Earlier today me and the gf were playing donkey kong country on our wii. In the middle of a level, the system crashed and just shut down. Ok, weird.. So i press the power button and it comes back on, however it wont boot into the wii dashboard. All it does it turn on and say "press a to continue" yet neither of my wiimotes will connect to be able to do that.

was using configurable usb loader, removed the HD and still wont boot.

Any ideas at all?

Sounds like the batteries in the motes might be too low to sync. Have had this trouble before, try changing em.
Sure fire way to tell if it "won't boot", just leave it on the press A screen, after about 5 mins it does it auto anyway
