    What happens when Nintendo stops supporting the eshop? would it just be impossible to download stuff?

    the wii shop channel will be discontinued in 2019, and ability to re-download some time later

    Correct, impossible to download directly from Nintendo (not like anyone created such a tool for the Wii), so better create those legal backups of your games

    i think nus downloader should get an update where it gets downloads from another server and not directly from nintendo

    Then idk how you get some channels after this (Not to mention the files needed for dolphin to connect to the internet)

    Why bother? The contents are encrypted. Sony's CDN is public facing as well.

    I archived the network files for dolphin, the pre-installed channels, and a few others, as well as the EULA. there are a few other weird files but idk if there's any use for them. I didn't download them, dolphin works mostly fine without them.

    I am fairly sure nintendo was just sure what they did to protect was enough. And for a while it was.
    One note is also content that is only encrypted by common keys like demos or updates so there is minimum hassle in receiving those I guess.
