That doesn't answer my question at all :(
What else is needed, it plays backups, it can cheat, it can run emulators.

So not sure what is it your wanting so its not stagnant?

In regards to emulation on other systems, these are all just ports of the PC version, so unless they get updated then there is nothing to port, tho if you cared to look at retroarch youll find it sometimes gets updated.

But the switch itself that great as nintendo havent provided the hardware to make it easy for the likes of blutooth headphones, so thats your answer there.

I'm not gonna quote everyone and just lump it in here instead. If people cared to read the original post, I specifically mention the fact that there isn't a lot left to do as far as "new" homebrew goes. I was mostly talking about support and updates for projects already out there (although there is some "new" stuff left to be done)

Switch scene is a god send, we got free games early as fuck. 3DS and Wii-U took years, and we had to deal with people teasing us. We only got Wii-U piracy, because some guy decided "fuck it" and leaked it on GBAtemp. Even after we got free games on Wii-U, we had to wait like a year for free DLC.

Also, if I recall, some guy leaked the Tegra hax, which lead to free Switch games, after we got teased. I could be remembering wrong.

I gave my dollar to m4xw so now I have the most recent Citra and from my testing, the performance boost is negligible. Same applies to Mupen. I'm aware that 64 is notorioisly hard, but I have much more reliable 64 emulation on my Wii. Your nx-btred explanation seems to just be speculation so while it's definitely possible, we can't be sure on that.

The only explaination you gave that seems to hold water is your moonlight-nx one which I was unaware of. I'll go check that out later tonight. Apologies for my ignorance on that one.

Please list the number of active homebrew developers in the switch scene. I can name more who left due to politics than are currently active. That is not what I would call a minority.
What exactly are the "politics" of the Switch scene? I don't follow the Switch homebrew scene at all.

Maybe it wouldn’t so stagnant if you learned to program and contributed something
What kinda dumb ass comment is that?

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

I check this site pretty much everyday.
This habit started towards the beginning of the Switch's life because everything was developing so quickly. From the discovery of the first exploits, to some PoC emulators, to themes, sys-modules, media players, and more, there was a ton of stuff to follow daily. Within the past year though, it feels like things have fizzled out. It seems that most projects are either abandoned, updated at an alarming slow rate, or no longer supported. The most significant example of this in recent memory is nx-btred, a program that lets you pair bluetooth headphones to the Switch. It was created, got a couple releases in a few days, and then disappeared. Same thing seems to have happened with emulators like Citra and Mupen. I know that m4xw is still working on those, but I can't remember the last time a significant update was released for either. I know that the dynarec made most n64 games playable, and when overclocking was added, that was even more so the case, but there are still a ton of incompatibilities, instabilities, and general slowdowns. This may be nostalgia goggles, but I feel like the Wii U, or even the Wii homebrew emulators ran much more stably than what we have now. Another example are all those game streaming programs. Things like sky-nx, in-home-switching, and moonlight-nx are awesome in concept, but still have a ton of bugs and haven't been updated in ages.

I want to make it clear that I'm not here to shit on devs. If I here one "stop being entitled" I'm gonna be not a happy camper. The point of this thread is simply to ask "why?" I understand that this doesn't apply to every bit of homebrew. I'd like to give special props to catlover007 for their incredible work on melonDS recently. I do not expect any of these devs to deliver a fully polished, or even fully functional product. That would be entitled. I just feel as if previous Nintendo consoles have gotten much more developed homebrew, and I would like to know what happened.

Im going to summarize this as much as possible. With every console release, people are excited to see what it can do. After a while people get bored, including homebrew developers that do this for free who each have lives and relationships outside the mod scene. Unless those developers can make a living off these apps or modifications, there is no reason to continue besides interest. It happens with every console/portable. This isn't exclusive to the Switch.

Says the guy who didn’t let kosmos work with tinfoil, and pokes at atmosphere all the time

you’re a good chunk of these politic issues my dude

Their logic is incredible in that regard - it's only "politics" when it's something they don't like. Remember when they added this hateful message to tinfoil? I do.

Exactly the kind of cringey politics they talked about. Get over it, stop using their software, go outside once in a while, just stop being so cringe.
Blawar literally put random ass hate speech in his software but I'm the bad guy for calling them out???? Go off I guess.
