2) It doesn't matter how old the GC is, that doesn't make piracy okay.

Doesnt copyright expire and enter public domain after X number of years? ;)

Anyways. I'm a fan of the idea of tueidjs anti-piracy measures. However, his AP system is flawed, much like major corporations AP measures. To make it an effective AP, it needs to be able to verify discs on wiis with broken disc drives, like they have failed for many, including myself. I wouldn't mind verifying, once, my ISOs, on a different wii, for it to work on mine, but apparently if you move these DCCs around, they brake and cause a need for re-verification.

WTF are you talking about? Not once did I every say I was ungrateful, in fact, being able to play backups of gamecube games (esp. with streaming audio) is a major breakthrough in Wii hacking development; it's something many deemed to be impossible. Considering how he developed a near-impossible DRM to crack, and only require that a person verifies the backup image once, is quite a technological feat, and being able to code such a system would undeniably require tremendous programming knowledge. I don't have to agree with the AP, and that is all I will say about the matter.

If only audio streaming was possible on Dios Mios, but due to some unknown hardware limitation, it simply isn't possible. Maybe in the near future, but I doubt it, since the program allocates 96KB in order to trick the Wii's gamecube mode into using USB devices.

Just use Dolphin and enjoy some of the most awesome HD GC/Wii emulation :)

Not sure if this helps any but its always nice to have options.

*end topic*
This wouldn't even end the topic. Loads of people can buy a now 100$ Wii.

Not many people can afford a 400+$ computer for HD Wii/GC Emulation.

Although I don't have the requisite programming knowledge, my sense is that it could be solved in software for DM, if a programmer knew exactly how to do it. The audio streaming code for modchips is fairly small.

I never really figured out why audio streaming was so hard to do. Isn't it basically just that the games want some data and you send it the data it wants?

First, I want to thank tueidj for all his efforts and hard work
Second if the main purpose of the program is to allow ppl with newer wii (i.e no gc support) to enjoy their GC games using a wiimote, then this AP is done the wrong way since new wii don't read GC discs.
Third, if the purpose of AP is to show people how good he is at securing the loader, then he succeed. We all admit that he did a great job.

The purpose of the AP is so he won't be contributing to illegal activity. How is that hard to understand?

Well, the guy made impossible possible and he really SHOULD be praised for it, but any form of DRM is plain wrong. There will never be a DRM that doesn't get in the way of the legitimate users and so it shouldn't exist. It is somehow justified on non-physical but with physical discs it's wrong. They don't have expire date but they (and device used to play them) wear out. Even Apple gives you DRM-free music form their store, APPLE! The most greedy company there is which was run by egocentical maniac. More and more sites sells DRM-free PC games and they're proud of it. It's just easier. I have roughly 300 legitimate games for consoles and PC and few hundreds of Amiga discs with games but I still download a ROM before buying DS game since there is no demo versions and I still prefer to download Amiga ROM rather than hook whole computer to the TV and wait for the game to load (it took a while to make a Fatality on Amiga, oh yes it did) and I'm not ashamed of it, I also prefer to download Planescape ISOs than look for it and wonder where it is and IF the CDs still work. That's the whole point of emulation and DRM-free games. I'm no code monkey, sort of a 'mechanic' a don't make the parts but I like to put them together and I was really looking forward to testing Devo especially since it will support Wiimote in the future, I'm simply curious - but with AP, it's a great letdown. Besides, does anybody remember Sweden's (I'm not sure if actually Sweden or other black metal country) stand on ACTA and similar things? They said to companies that they're calling their bluff and conducted a research - 'pirates' tend to spend MORE money on entertainment than legit users so they said to USA/EU - 'Grow up and deal with it.'

you can't be more right. I really believe, there isn't a single person on this forum who NEVER EVER pirated anything. Come on everybody downloaded a .mp3 or cracked a pc game etc. Of course this doesn't give us the right to steal everybody's intellectual property but we should also criticize the piracy laws, and the long duration of copyrights thanks to Disney and other media companies.

Of course it is a great achievement and i thank to the author but criticizing his AP approach doesn't mean i don't respect him. He might listen to us or might not give a shit, it is all his choice, but if he is mature, he won't stop updating his software just because we are criticizing his AP approach.

*looks at thread*

Christ almighty. I really thought all the pirates and people with scratched disc drives would be using dios mios by now. Because, y'know...90 bucks for a WODE was to expensive. So is 5 bucks for an SD gecko (when swiss came out). And DML didn't quite cut it for people with large collections.

So now it's down to audio streaming? Jeez...have any of you complainers even TRIED playing a game with audio streaming on another loader? There's barely any difference. And the handful of games where it actually makes a noticeable difference (yes: noticeable. not "huge", "big" or even "moderate"...noticeable) can be bought in a second hand shop for less than 10 euro's*.

Is that REALLY worth complaining about? If that's above your budget, you really shouldn't be playing video games to begin with because you can't afford to spend the electricity on it.

*currently on my desk:
Eternal darkness: €8.98
Starfox adventurs: €8.98
Prince of persia: sands of time: €5.98
Bloodrayne: €3.98 (fuck...I actually bought this because it had a hot goth babe on it. I wouldn't have felt ripped off if they had forgot to put the disc in it).

Well, so are the pirates ... want everything free. No doubt that some steal electricity LoL.

Dumbest post of the month, hands down.

I understand why whatshisname put AP on it, but I think it will gain him a lot of haters, I'm not a fan of the AP measures as in a way it kinda defeats the point of loaders.
