I haven't upgraded because the 3DS scene is advancing so freaking fast that it's like there's a new CFW coming out every month. I still haven't even gotten the idea of A9LH yet, although I've seen about it. That, plus I'm happy with my current setup. I like using menuhax because I don't have to make any permanent changes to my system, and it's easy to reinstall.

Lazy. And Menuhax with ReiNand simply works. I do want to try it though, and if I brick, I have my main NNID system so I wouldn't be losing too much, until I find a copy of Cubic Ninja. Haha It goes in and out of stock at GameStop like crazy, and it's the cheapest way to get the game nowadays. I'm still hoping Yellows works his magic and gets browserhax working again on 10.7. My main system I want to always keep updated, but I heard there was maintenance coming, so hopefully a new firmware doesn't come out, or I'll hold off until I get it downgraded and an arm9loader to have a SysNAND CFW

Did you transfer from an O3DS to this one? If so, format the system (but taking out the SD card before hitting the big red FORMAT button, to preserve the important goodies you have on there), and try again. It just doesn't work if you transferred from an O3DS. Even if not, try a format. Doing this immediately made it work for me. I tried it about ten times with no success, then after a format it worked.

Yes, I actually transfered from a O3DS to and O3DS XL and then to this new3DS.
For the format: what am I going to loose with it? I don't want to loose saves, bought games and stats. :(

You will lose everything. Backup all saves, and you can re-install all purchased games. Sorry, but this is actually completely necessary if you had transferred form an O3DS. Also, make sure to use PlaiSysUpdater. SysUpdater would not work for me, even after the format for some reasons. PlaiSysUpdater did.

Edit: DO NOT FORGET TO TAKE OUT THE SD CARD BEFORE HITTING THE BIG RED FORMAT BUTTON. Unless, of course, you want all data on the SD card (which presumably is holding everything you've downloaded for the hax) to be erased.

When gateway adds support then maybe.
Chances are they'll add support & make it easier to install maybe less steps too.

I really enjoy the in-game address scanning & cheating gateway offers.
I also really enjoy having two storage cards, all my .3DS rom files on my microSD card & all my installed .CIA files, naturally, on my SD card.
I hardly ever turn off my 3DS, I just put it in sleep mode, so boot speeds don't matter much to me, nor does loading emunand from the DS profile menu button.

I just wish it added something huge, like the ability to put both ds & 3ds roms in a folder & choose to play either from a single list.
Something like that might make me consider it.
I doubt there will be less steps. You will still have to dg to 2.1 to get it.

I was on this boat. Too scared to try.

Finally gave up when Aureinand changed name to Luma3DS. I took one of my 3DS and gave it a go.

The trickiest part is the 2.1 download and flash to sysnand, but even then I somehow was never scared of bricking it or something.

It's really comfortable. So much that I'm doing it on another one.

However, if you're happy with the current setup you're using, don't bother. I was using MSET on 4.2 and it worked for me. Menuhax is perfectly safe for the end user and the drawbacks aren't that relevant.

Psh i'm still using my gateway on my N3DS with the ds profile exploit. If anyone knows if i could use gateway with a9lh and/or ntr that would be helpful.

It doesn't have be in at all times. Only to turn on the 3DS.
I really don't get people's problem with this. At least with a9lh you can remove the sd card while it's on. You do that with the other exploits and the system locks up, why? Because they have to use emunand to be on newest fw. A 3ds is pretty useless without an sd card anyways. It's where all the digital games are stored

No, whatever works just works. If Aureinand or rxTools didn't work I would've gone to ah9l. They both work, so why spend 40mins or even up to 2 hours to ah9l on it, when aureinand and rxtools takes 20minutes? Faster boot times? Sure great, but I'm patient. I'll switch when I have no other choice.

Update:

The moment I found out that the sd card has to be in at all times was I decided then and there that a9lh was a no go and besides I don't do crazy shit that would get me a brick anyway.:rofl2:

Because you frequently use your system without an SD card, or because replacing a dead SD card is inordinately expensive? Either way, as pointed out by others, you are in a bind already if you're using cfw and have issues with running the system without one in (also running a full cfw from the SD card is putting significantly more wear and tear on it than loading a single small file at system boot does). To me, the whole "can't boot without an SD card" seems like a rather irrational fear as you've probably got more of a likelihood of your systems NAND chip dying out than your systems SD reader.

As for "not doing crazy shit that will get you a brick anyway", the odds of bricking if you can follow simple (though admittedly long) directions step by step are practically zero, as the process and tools have been pretty well cleaned up to prevent this exact thing from happening..

Eventhough the New 3DS XL is more powerful, I still feel like the DS Lite was a more polished system. It's a real shame that it never got an XL variant keeping the GBA slot. You'd have to go on AliExpress and buy an ML shell to give a DS phat the unofficial "DS Lite" treatment, and that's the best we'll ever get I'm afraid.

The phat model had amazingly loud speakers tho.

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.
