Don't, just get the DSTwo, and then get your MicroSD from a physical shop near you. Chinese/import MicroSDs run a high rick of being bad.

EDIT: My bad, thought you said r4i gold 3ds. To me, I don't think that card is reliable, if I'm correct, it's the one that has the interface that reminds me of a Mac computer in the late 90's. it's just really ugly. Get the r4i gold 3ds. It's supported by ds, lite, i and the 3ds.

I ended up with one of the infamous R4i Gold 3DS cards with the Metroid icon that can't be updated for my DSi (plenty of threads about the problems with that card).
I'm getting a Supercard DSTwo soon, read nothing but good reviews about it overall.

I bought myself just the r4 for $7.10 and I plan to us WoodR4 with it. This thread helped me with that decision, but is it up to date? I'm just curious because I'm hoping there's a chance WoodR4 had gained the "Cheat Search" and "Auto AP Bypass" features over the years of updating.

Nope, but it did gain RTS (but it's buggy and still in testing).

To anyone concerned with future compatibility: do NOT buy an R4i Gold 3DS (r4ids.cn). One of their recent batches (the rev C metroid icon) has still not been updated for the latest firmware and I doubt they'll ever release a patch for it. If they've done it once, they'll do it again.

You can either spend $16 bucks and risk having the card never work after any given update, or spend $40 for the number 1 card available.

Hi, I just ordered a SuperCard DSTwo from an online shop. The shop offers to update the cart only if I buy a Micro SD card bundled with the flashcart, but I chose to buy only the DSTwo because I wanted to buy the Micro SD card from a trusted vendor I know. Let's say I have a DSi already updated to 1.4.5. Will I be able to update the DSTwo firmware with it or do I have to use a DS Phat/Lite to update the cart? The problem is that I don't have a regular DS accessible to me...

Yes you can as long as the DSTWO works on the DSi's firmware.

Normally you'd need an older DS, but the DSTwo has a secondary update function you can use as long as it's not one of the really old DSTwo units (that have like firmware 1.0 or whatever).

Hey, hate to be a single poster on a forum but I've only just found out about flash cards etc buuut I've hacked my PSP + run loads of emulators + goodies etc .

I've got an old DS lite, am I at a disadvantage for playing DS ROMs? Will it be slower etc so it'd be better for me to buy an XL or DSi?

I don't need emulation because as aforementioned have everything on my PSP, I just want to play DS ROMs.

What would be the best card for me? Thanks so much in advance .

DS games run the same speed on everything with "DS" in the name.

Forgot to say thanks, I finally got my DSTwo although I don't have a dedicated Micro SD card for it yet, but I just used my smartphone's card to do the firmware update. Didn't lose much by formatting the card apart from some photos and vids I didn't care about. Worked like a charm in a DSi version 1.4.3U, which I plan to keep for updating purposes only (I'm getting a 3DS soon).

The DSTwo is really a fine bit of kit and you get a lot for the money, although I got it for the ability to emulate GBA. I guess an R4i Gold is fine if you don't need the extra features.

I guess i will go with the link you posted above then. I'm always sceptical about using my credit card on sites i've never heard of, it's 100% safe right?
