On to unit number 3. I would like to take this time to offer up a recommendation for Nintendo repair service. My boys broke their 2DSXL top screen. I contacted local companies and they all wanted $99 to repair it. I contacted Nintendo reluctantly for some reason (just a bad assumption that I could have it fixed cheaper somewhere else). Breakage isn't covered obviously but I learned they only charge $50 plus tax and $10 for shipping (2DSXL)(n3DS & n3DSXL are $85 plus tax and shipping).
After speaking to the friendly representative and explaining that the unit was almost new and my disappointment with how easily the unit was broken (these were given to my boys by grandparents so I didn't choose them) and how flimsy the top is she said she would do two things. 1. Discount the repair by $25. 2. Waive the shipping cost 3. Overnight it back to me once repairs were completed.
To be clear, the total repair (including UPS shipping there and UPS OVERNIGHT shipping back) cost me a whopping $27.06! After getting off the phone I was thinking "is this some scam"?? lol
I'll add that at no time did I get rude, raise my voice or ask for a supervisor. All of which I am good at doing.
I got the DS back this morning. Looks great!

7 days round trip!
They only had it 2 days. Can’t beat that. They promised me to send it back overnight and that’s what they did. I’m impressed with Nintendo. Other companies should take notice!
I'm feeling fortunate! Probably wouldn't expect the same special treatment for repeat offenses but even at the normal $60, that sure beats $99 and you know its done right.
I'm wondering if the the entire top part was replaced versus just an internal screen replacement. The adhesive black cover doesn't look disturbed at all but it could have been replaced or just done really well. Regardless, I am extremely happy with the repair.
I hope this is helpful to anyone considering Nintendo for repairs. I'm sure others have much more experience with Nintendo but they have earned MY confidence.
