Ok bro I'll bare that in mind
Its just so much more convenient to have on the switch for myself personally and I always find the controls on emulators to not be as smooth. Dunno if anyone else gets that?

All my games play smoothly via emulator I just dont get the hype about this game. This game is like $29.99 best but they are charging full price whenever Sony/Microsoft do trilogy games from the past they never ask you for full price. Nintendo is very fortunate they are a family oriented company because without those Soccer Moms and Super Dads buying their products they would honestly be bankrupted.

Not everyone had the opportunity to play these mario games in the past, so for many It will be a new Mario experience for them. Some never owned the original hardware the games run on and some want to revisit these games for purely nostalgic reasons. I, for example haven't played Sunshine in over a decade, and it holds many nostalgic memories for me. That's why Im interested in it.

Emulator's aren't everyone's cup of tea. Some find it a headache to emulate games on their computers, this serves even more true after the generation of the N64 and PS1. Not everyone owns computers that can run emulate or run games smoothly. I for example use an old HP. All I did was replace the HDD with an SSD. It was never meant for gaming anyway, and I can't afford to splurge money on anything better. Not to mention, some gamers encounter issues with emulating games and give up, not everyone is good with computers. Anyways, I think lots of people enjoy the feel of playing their games an actual console instead of emulating it.

I admit that I don't feel excitement when it comes towards SM64. The modding and emulation of that game has been done to death, therefore potentially spoiling the fun and expectations one would normally have for Nintendo's port. Just an observation I'm not saying emulation and modding is a bad thing.

The Original Super Mario All Stars had Super Mario Bros 1-3 + Lost Levels + Mario World. When SNES did it they did it right by remastering the whole game on the current graphics at the time
3D All stars was supposed to be Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine, Super Mario Galaxy 1+2 and Super Mario 3D World. They was supposed to remaster all the games on the switch current graphics not port them over. This is why it is a little frowned upon and referenced to use emulators.

They put little to zero effort doing the game right

A little off topic but Lost Levels was arguably the most hardest Mario game of all time

Another reason i made this thread is so that when it becomes available I hope people will let me know in this post. Im hoping the xci or nsp will be available a little bit before release day. I just pulled my modded wii out again and I was gonna replay sunshine but seeing as its dropping on the switch I may as well wait

They did more than they did for the 25th anniversary. they repackaged snes all stars without SMW. they didnt even change the button prompts.

On the Wii U Virtual console, Mario Galaxy is 20 bucks, and Mario 64 is 10, assuming GCN would be halfway in price at $15, it would have costed $45 on Wii U, but as a limited edition bundle most likely $40; the same price as the spyro remasters. they should have priced it at 40 bucks, or included mario Galaxy 2 ($20+$20+$15+$10) for a good deal.

idk about it not being enough, but $60 is way too much in terms of pricing

yall im torn... ive been hacking away at tales of phantasia GBA (the USA version) and have so many documents of reverse engineering i've done
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@TwoSpikedHands just switch, all the knowledge you learned still applies and most of the code and assets should be the same anyway
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    and realistically they wouldn't

be able to play it legally anyway since they need a ROM and they probably don't have the means to dump it themselves
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
why the shit does the shitbox randomly insert newlines in my messages

It does that when I edit a post.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It inserts a newline in a random spot.
