Hmm... I'm sort of jealous. We barely celebrated Christmas, and the Christmas with my girlfriend is... Worse, if I'm honest (please don't tell her that
).
We celebrated with a fancy dinner. And at best with a (fake) Christmas tree. The thing is : I didn't really know better (st Nicholas is a different story, but it's at december 6th). As such, I didn't miss it. Worse : at my (current) girlfriend's family there 's this tradition to buy something of 10-15 bucks at most, and from a list of your choosing. I'm always annoyed, as I'm used to just buying what I really want, so rather than anticipation I've got to come up with something small to buy for myself, which I can then send someone out to buy me with a delay (and if this sounds cynical, then don't get me started on birthdays. I've got a very nice and friendly inlaw family, but man are they terrible at picking gifts).
... But okay : there's one fond memory from my childhood. Can't really recall much but some shreds, but it was good. See... The family on my father's side celebrated, and we joined them (must've been 30 or more years ago). Two of our nephews got some toys (I remember some sort of mechanical robot - dragon) that were really meant to play together. So me and my brother joined in. It was a blast.
Looking back, I had no idea why I didn't felt jealousy. I just felt happy just to join in on the fun. That's all.
EDIT: damn... Forgot my actual best Christmas... It was two or three years ago. The whole 'presents' thing I mentioned earlier had passed. But I had some board games with me. Taught my 2 (Inlaw) nephews how to play dixit and Catan. We had a blast doing it.
Granted, it was only accidentally Christmas and had nothing to do with the presents, but it was absolutely my best gaming moment at Christmas day.
