What's up with the wink smiley

What's wrong with our wink smiley? I me look at him, it looks like he's having a very hard time trying to wink, he got something in his eye, or he's wincing in pain.

Moreover, it looks nothing like the original/usual wink smiley

I mean, I don't mean to be rude to the person who made it, but am I the only one bothered by this?

Well, the difference is that the first wink is just a wink. While the other one is more of a happy wink.
