Edit: Or search reddit for "which version of cave story" or "best version of cave story". Looks like there's several posts that give more detail than that page does. I'd say Cave Story+ for Switch as there's quality of life improvements and a graphical toggle for classic and +. Also Cave Story 3D. That one is an actual remake (both graphics and soundtrack) & looks/sounds really nice, rather than a remaster like +.

I think the Mister is cool and all, but honestly I have seen some video's exploring the difference between hardware and software emulation and the advantages of both.... I would pick software over FPGA, wouldn't mind some sort of hybrid approach but I can only imagine how complex that would be and how expensive. -
