I used to think developers had to code every pixel with text, showing what color it is and how long it would be used for

I used to think this too, when my dad told me they used computers to make video games.

As a kid playing Final Fantasy X I thought I could just flee from every battle with Tidus once I started getting bored of the pacing and yet still triumph through the game. I would always get to Evrae (Wyrm of Bevelle) and hit a massive brick wall because I would obviously get decimated no matter what I did.

I even got my mum to buy me a cheat disc so I could just cheese past the fight. I had no concept of grinding and having to, you know, actually improve my party so that they could meet the rising difficulty. Idiotic.
